That looks soooooo good and even better in the dry! if only it wasn't a 10hr + drive away! This was the mast stage of the EWS when it was here last year. An amazing and very long (for UK) trail.

Highly recommend a trip to the Tweed Valley. So many places to ride, lots of places to stay and we've got the uplift too! I'd be happy to do some guiding too, I only request a post ride beer! That looks soooooo good and even better in the dry! if only it wasn't a 10hr + drive away!
Gisburn Forest yesterday - two laps of The Eight.
This isn't a fast running, adrenaline-fueled show, this is the technicalities of riding in tight trees and roots, mainly.
Still don't know how YT manage to mangle the source material, this is supposed to be 1080p HD (raw footage is perfect).

Legs were absolutely cooked!I felt knackered just watching that! Steep as, flatter, just when you think it’s over, steep as f*ck again! I’d need a coffee break halfway I reckon
New camera, massive improvement, not a bad ride out too started with handle bar mount then switched to chest mount. Compared to my other camera is a massive improvement.
I fancy watching Return of the Jedi for no particular reason.
Brilliant!
In other news, anyone got any advice on youtube/insta uploading? No matter what I seem to do, my footage gets potato-fied when I upload it to youtube or instagram. I'm using an Insta 360 One R, with the 4k lens. Recording at 4k / 30fps. Videos look great when downloaded from camera. Issue seems to happen during upload.

I've been, but only did the trail centres at Inerlathen and Glentress, a few years ago on analogues. Need to go back on Eeeb's but it's a 4-day trip that costs me more than just fuel and B&B's! The emotional grief from the FPO and some sort of gift/sacrifice needs to be sorted.Highly recommend a trip to the Tweed Valley. Yeah angle definitely wrong. I think it was my zip knocking the back of the cam.Chest mount, 4K and 40fps much better. Just need to angle the camera up slightly and find the source of that clicking! Sounds like the camera isn’t tight on the mount

How are you exporting after editing? what app / sopftware you using as the old GoPro app wouldnt export in 4k but would let you film in it???
Is it just processing time? (youtube end?) I can see your latest one is still showing as 1080
I feel the same issue, my video's are much better quality on my phone ( go pro quick app ) and even after youtube full processing has completed they really look a lower quality than the originals. Ive just admitted defeat with it as my videos are not going to win any awards or offer much entertainment anyway lol.I've tried exporting at full 4k and also at 1080, as someone suggested that instagram would process it down anyway. It seems to spit out mp4 files, which may not be the best either. Just using the 360R app on the phone. The last one I put up on Youtube was a test to see if exporting at 1080 made any difference. It's noticeably poorer quality than the same file on my phone.
I'm baffled!
are you exporting from Quik in 4k/5k?I feel the same issue, my video's are much better quality on my phone ( go pro quick app ) and even after youtube full processing has completed they really look a lower quality than the originals. Do you do any kind of upscaling / quality boosts from the original recording in your editing app prior to uploading to youtube etc ?
I try to export in the original res now. Ive tried upscaling in quick etc but same results, keeping the original res on export seems to help very slightly.are you exporting from Quik in 4k/5k?
I do that then stitch together and add titles music etc using PowerDirector on my phone.
Yup thats a massive differenceDid a bit of digging on Youtube compression potatoing HD videos, one common thing it seems is how YT applies codecs to uploads. Seems there's two main ones ACV1 & VP09 which is better & apparently YT often defaults to it for channels that do big numbers. You can easily check the codec by right clicking a video & clicking stats for nerds. The upshot is uploading in 2k & above should get your video onto VP09 & improve the quality.
To that end I re-exported my little video from Saturday at 2k (my editor crashes if I try 4k) and sure enough it runs VP09 & looks loads better. Both below, original @720 first & the reup @2k.
Think i might just have nailed the angle ( finally lol ). You tube still processing the higher quality but its currently at a watchable 1080 i think.
Weather turned snowy which didnt help as i just switched to 4k30fps so the lighting on the latter part is a bit duller but such an improvement with this angle .
Stopped the mic rattle but first part of the footage was in the case and that had terrible scuffing sounds !! Think the mic picking up the chest mount rubbing on my clothes underneath.
I can sort the sound out another time, happy with the angles on this record i think ?
Feedback more than welcome as usual

Thanks @militantmandy not a go pro, its the akaso v50 pro se.Angle is perfect. Quality is super sharp too. Is it a GoPro?
I've been thinking about another camera, as the stabilisation on the 360r gets a bit ropey when it's lower light and that happens a LOT where I live! I really don't want to stump for a new gopro, so i'll have a look at that one. Thanks @militantmandy not a go pro, its the akaso v50 pro se.
Was using an even cheaper action cam previously which did its job as such but had no stabilization, my footage is not worth buying a GoPro but felt i needed an improvement so opted for the akaso ( i spent hours researching different cameras lol ) as it seemed to have some good reviews and functions i again felt would benefit. Its a fraction of a GoPro price and for me seems really good thus far but from watching GoPro footage i still think its way off.
All in all its a massive improvement over my previous and i just need to find a ride to give it justice now
I would imagine your existing is better than my model akaso but akaso do better versions than the v50 pro so might still be worth comparing other versions against your insta. Not sure how low light would affect stabilization on a camera !I've been thinking about another camera, as the stabilisation on the 360r gets a bit ropey when it's lower light and that happens a LOT where I live! I've added a couple more vids, but they are on my manual bike. Not sure if that's allowed!
