Thanks so thats how it works, seems an odd way to use this function!
It didn’t used to be this way on the original firmware that my 2019 Trance came with, but changed after my first upgrade. I think Giant just followed suit, same as most other brands. It’s just to avoid accidentally engaging the WALK function if you happen to swipe the button unawares.

It's probably because some dickhead in the states accidentally hit the walk button fell over and now wants to sue Giant. Like everything in the modern world it's not good enough to make it foolproof you have to make it idiot proof. Oh no the cynical old man in me has come out again ?

I’ve used the “ press the light button 5 times” at first, the bike was very jerky, think it was in a demo mode, power seemed to cut in &out around 13mph. Thought I had wrecked the bike. Tried again and what a difference, power assist appears to be going beyond the 25kph limit. Don’t think it’s limitless but that little bit of extra speed makes the bike lovely to ride. Worried if I let it auto update that I would lose this.

What do you mean by “tried again”? Did you do the light button 5 times again? Or leave it for a while and go for another ride? I have a 2019 trance e+ and the 5 light press thing put mine into 13mph jerky mode. I did the 5 press thing again and it put me back to the normal 25kph limit it came with. Just wondering if you did something different?

No, just did the “press light button 5 times” but I may have done it a couple of times. Presume it cycles through the different speed modes. Definitely getting power assist beyond 25kph. Hope that helps.

Once I got this working like this I didn’t want to disturb again.

Picked up my giant fathom today in the Uk and the giant Store told me Not to pair the app or download the firmware.......Anyone experienced this? .reading this I'm tempted to give it a go, otherwise can’t see any data from my bike.

Yes it’s running fine, they said there has been some cases where the firmware update causes problems with the bike and is not working correctly, so best to wait until they release the new app. I tried to connect the app Just to see data from the bike, it found the bike but it wants to update the firmware so I left it.

I’m a new owner of Trance E+1 Pro 2020 and finding the 25km/h limit a little annoying... but also a bit reluctant to pay a lot for an aftermarket chip that’s difficult to fit and voids all warranty, and may cause other unreliability.

The light key press sounds interesting tho...

I’m finding the app very disappointing, and it doesn’t stop the phone from locking so I can use it on a ride - too fiddly. Was looking at the displays such as the Evo to give me a decent computer to look at... any other suggestions?

Also find the gears a bit low, and was considering a larger front chainring...?

Any comments would really be appreciated :)

Only the service tool can do that, at least for the moment. I hope the new version of the app will do it.
If you connect an ANT+ compatible device with the LEV profile, it will tell you the total km of the motor, very useful!!!
