Other JUST DROPPED: All-new Slash+ e-MTB

I testrode yesterday the Slash + at a shop with a kind of indoor mtb circuit. The motor is very quiet and delivers the power very naturally.
What I‘m not sure about is the sizing. I‘m 184 cm and was on L. I had the impression that the bike is quite small for me and I had not much room to move my body in standing position. It is certainly smaller than my current Kenevo SL in S4. Optically the bike looked short as well.
What is the experience of the owners with the sizing?

I think it depends on what you're used to and what you are looking for. Personally, I was looking for a bike that was more natural feeling and silent. This bike delivers both, as I now again enjoy being in the mountains without feeling rushed or having the need to do lots of laps.

I am also used to long(er) bikes(Pole Voima K2 and Specialized Stumpjumper S4) and I now have the Slash+ in L. I like how it feels and how it rides. I am 181 CM in metric size

I think it depends on your style of riding and how playful you want the bike to be vs planted.

Major issue with the slash+ is that for dummy/commercial reason, they drop the ML size therefore their chart is kind of meh.

At 178cm I would take the M, on KSL I would take the S3 but sometimes the S4 would be good too.

If you can just test ride the XL if there is one, one thing also to notice is that the Slash has little purpose without steep/aggressive DH, this is where it shines. You can enjoy it elsewhere but there are then better options.

Thanks for your insights. Would love to try the bike in XL but this size is nonexistent here.I thought if I put a 40 mm stem and a reach adjust headset on L might be OK. Anybody knows if the head set is ZS56/ZS56?

Hmm, not sure this would be very good to have a longer stem but you could try.

Regarding the head set not sure either what you are looking for? The slash+ is using custom adjustable headset to be able to change a bit the geo, so nothing generic here (except the bearing I guess?).

Pulled the trigger on a Slash + olive darb in L. Couldn’t resist a 20% off. The plan is to swap all parts from my KSL over.
Anybody put already a new rear braking hose through the frame? I wonder how much hassle this might by on the S+.

Wondering why the slash needs the lower pulley in the chain guide.. There are a bunch of high pivot bikes out there like the Norco’s, gt’s and a like. My guess is it’s the sram transmission tension spring. My guess is if you go to a different drivetrain you could loose the lower pulley and 4 or 5 links of chain.

It doesn't need it as such. Plenty of racers on Sessions (basically the same) run without it with no issues. On the high pivot bikes the weakness for chain drops is actually over the top of the top idler. Companies make covers with less clearance to stop that which many people fit.

From what I'm seeing in the UK prices keep dropping week by week, every type of consumer product distributor seems to be stuffed with overstock and is competing for the same £/$/€ in people's pocket.

I do not think this true is the case with the slash+ there are barely stock out there and this is by design how Trek set this.

But yeah lots of distributor are overstock or willingly want to drain it. The good weather has ended for some so it is also of a factor.

I wonder how low the slash+ could go … if this is only stock issue it could ramp up too again.

Early 2025 should give us aslo a new batch of models.

22kg is disappointing TBH.

Bit late to this thread but not surprised with weight most exe builds that are on the hardcore end are in the 19s. Slash is a stunning bike but its for a niche market rider. Be a mega park bike!

It would be impossible to me to go through the 19kg in L size unless going with very light tyre which would be at the opposite of what the bike is built for.

FWIW got mine for 6k last week delivered. Bike does not feel heavy riding it, even bunny hop are fine.

Still atm it is on stock parts at 21kg not sure it is worth spending hundreds to drop it but there and there could be some gram reduced.

Got my 9.7 delivered as well. It’s 20.5 kg without pedals with the heavy ass Rhythm fork and SLX cassette. I think with a normal fork like Zeb or 38 and a XO or XTR cassette you‘ll be able to keep the weight at something around 20,5 even with sturdy tires. That’s at least my plan.

Honestly I am not sure of which parts yet.

Definitely a bigger dropper oneup and spare some weight. For the grip damper x2 yeah would be great, not sure how many grams I would skip too.

Good idea too for the XTR, I think I will go somehow with AXS GX but failed to see when.

One must for me regardless of weight is the vivid air ultimate, waiting for a good deal.

Could someone confirm the cross sectional dimensions of the 580wh battery? I found a spec sheet that says 60.5 x 65.5mm, which is thicker than the 48 x 64mm on the 360wh pack.

Got mine for 6k, unfortunately some parts are to be replaced to my preferences but the package is good.

Saddle, tyres, shock settings are not good so keep it in mind. I will replace several other parts but not required to shred day 1 (grip x2, vivid air shock, Hayes A4, oneup handlebar…)

21kg in L, it feels okay on good DH but on open field not that steep with 18km/h wind, it was barely possible to clear some table top and sometimes I just had to bail before.

The restricted 25km/h is too low for some flat sections where I needed to pedal hard before.
Wish I could live in and set the bike in US not EU for that (You can DM me if you know how without Speedi or speedbox)

Assistance is good enough for me, and frankly I had a way heavier workout with the bike than my analogs due to the fact that I nearly never pause or push the bike in comparison.

50s in, comes in mullet but a flip chip allows full 29.

Definitely keeping an eye on the price now. If there's movement in the top end model Ill probably buy it.

I would see no reason to buy the 9.9, just craziness.

You buy the 9.7 and buy parts you want and you will never reach the 9.9 price, like ever.

So far I have bought:
- vivid air shock ultimate 550 euros
- damper x2 580 euros
- Hayes Dom A4 450 euros
- tyres 130 euros

And random other parts stem, handlebar etc that you would replace as on the 9.9 you still get crappy bontrager parts.

Stock Tyre are aweful, brake good if you do not care about modulation, lots of people could use them without any issue.

For the rest, To me there is a pending one:
- Ethirteen Sidekick rear wheel / not sure yet but maybe dt Swiss for front.

Bonus would be t-type, expensive as hell but my feeling is that the shifting is not great on this bike.
