How do you carry your phone?

I've been using an old iPhone SE but I'm pulling the trigger on a new 12 pro. Problem with the newer iPhones is their camera is suspended within magnets and vibration kills them. So my handlebar QuadLock is a no go and it needs to be suspended on my body.

I'm torn between an arm strap and some sort of soft waist bag. I run BLevo for my rides and like fast access for the photos I love to snap so buried in my backpack isn't a preferred option. Maybe there's some sort of little pack I can attach to my back pack shoulder strap?

Hi, I have a back pack with a pocket on the shoulder strap with two zip compartments with one for a mobile phone and the other for keys etc. I also light to take photos and in this position it’s easy to access the phone while the back pack in on.

I've used one of these for years, holds my phone, keys, wallet and small spares etc, I turn it around to be on my back instead of at the front;

On the inside pocket of my MT500 jacket ..
I'm aware that there is a possibility of damaging the phone if I otb and chest plant ..but it hasn't happened yet ( damaging a phone ) and I've had more than my fair share of over the bars action ..

I'm now leaning towards the little pocket strapped to my shoulder strap on my backpack. My Osprey pack doesn't have a pocket but thanks for the hint KennyB - I'll look there!

I used to do this until an off where I ended up rolling on that side and although I didn't smash the phone on the uneven ground I obviously flexed it enough to crack the screen.

I stash my iPhone 8 in a seat bag and use an Apple Watch for tracking rides, taking messages and phone calls etc.

I use to keep mine in my shorts pocket, until I smashed the screen, twice (separate phones). Now it travels safely inside my backpack. Certainly not as convenient, but it still works!

Ziplock bag, in my jersey or jacket pocket. Garmin on the bars for notifications, nav, and emergency alerts. I used to carry it in my shorts but they're 2017 vintage and the dedicated phone pocket is no longer big enough for modern phones.

I use bib shorts under my top/shorts, have a few different pairs, but they are all of the type with storage pockets at lower back level , and I keep the phone in those.

My favourites are these as they have some hip protection built in, got two pairs

I use the Dakine Hot Laps 2L Hydration Hip Pack, it has my basic tools, water bladder, keys & energy gel/bars. I put my phone (S10+) in the same pocket as the water bladder. It will still get vibrations but I have come off the bike several times, twice falling directly on my pack and the phone is fine.

I usually have mine on the bars with a Quad Lock case and mount. Although recently it’s got a bit muddy. Will start to use Apple Watch for notifications/Strava and the phone will go in the pocket of my soon to arrive MT500 Jacket as per the Hodge. Will keep nice and dry.

I used to leave my phone in my car but as I now mainly ride on my own carrying my phone is a must, only thing is mine is an iPhone plus so on the larger size, didn’t really feel comfortable carrying it in my pocket in case of an off so now use a Evoc Hip Pouch 1L Waist Pack. I can carry all my vital trail side essential kit and also enough for my keys and a snack, spare go pro battery’s and a small compact tripod, you actually forget your wearing it after a while.

I’ve used several recent iPhone models mounted to bars of road and MTB via a Quadlock mount. Cameras have remained fine. Not sure there is an issue. My new iPhone 12 will also go in the bars via same method.

I-phones are shite for anything outdoorsy, get a Blackview BV6000 dust proof, waterproof, shockproof, smashproof does everything an Iphone does but the battery lasts for 6 days without charging and you can keep it in your pocket without worry!

He maybe right about the camera. I had an iPhone XR that the camera went to shit. Lucky for me it was under warranty yet. I use a Ram X Grip that had the quick clamp the was more solid. I switched the the arm mount now and don’t have it as tight and have been ok since. I also use theses on my motorcycle and snowmobile.

Use this in the summer, never had the phone come loose riding but came off once in a fall but in snow and no damage. Put phone in a pocket when it gets cold, can't beat Ram mounts for durability.

Yup always had to have my phone plugged in on the snowmobile or it would shut off because of the cold

I just wear one of my road biking tops, they are quite tight fitting and have 3 pockets on the lower back, perfect for phone and a key.
It took me a while to figure this out, I first tried nukeproofs bib shorts with the pocket at the back, but they don't make them big enough for me and it felt like they were going to cut me in 2 after about an hour. then I tried a long sleeve road cycling jersey and found it was perfect. might look a bit odd to some but it's functional!
