I rode yesterday for about 2 hours. Put the bike away after dusting it off and this morning...nothing. It won't turn on at all. Battery has 3-4 bars. I removed the battery and re-installed it. Nothing. It seems to be nice and tight when I put the battery back in. This is just odd. Anyone have any idea what happened? I have the Purion display BTW.

Search generally (ie google, to search other ebike forums). As cc_math wrote, sounds like Purion's batteries need to be replaced. From a thread on another forum, someone was able to get it running by turning the system on at the battery (as is documented in the Purion manual). On the Rail, there's a small hole on the battery cover through which the on/off switch can be activated:

Just so you know what you're poking, here's what's under the hole:

I replaced the batteries in the purion. 2 2016s. Nothing. I pressed the button through the battery cover hole. Felt it click. Nothing. When I hit the power button on the pur i on, I can hear a faint click. But nothing happens on the display or motor as far as functioning.

Hey there, just following along with the troubleshooting steps you've taken here. The click you heard would be the motor receiving power, however, if the display is not starting, there is an underlying issue that you'd want to address at your local retailer.

My thoughts are that the display is faulty, or the wiring harness needs a look at if it got loose from that first ride (which means it may not have been fully seated from the start). If anything needs replaced, you would most certainly be covered under warranty should your Rail be under the 2 year age date.

The bike is going in for service this week. Matt at Wheel and Sprocket is very familiar with these bike and basically echoed exactly what you said Mitch. I am also going to upgrade the Purion to either the Kiox or Nyon while it is in being fixed. Any thought either way from anyone as to which one to choose? They said they would install it for no labor charge as long as they have to work on the bike anyway. I am leaning towards the Nyon because it doesn't have to be connected to your phone. I am not a big fan of how large it is however. Is the NYON well suited for single track use??

Get the kiox and the proper Trek mounting, it's fantastic and does not need to be connected to your phone at all.

I was under the impression that you had to have your phone on you and connected to Kiox in order for it to work?? I would rather have the Kiox for sure.

I've got a 9.8 XT with a Kiox, I rarely connect my phone to it, It works just fine. With the proper Trek mount it's well protected and out of the way, just make sure you fit a flashlight lanyard in a very bright colour to tie it to the bike. It's held into the mount with strong magnets but in a crash they've been known to pop off, although this has never happened to me. Also with the kiox it's worth using the Bosch app and upgrade with the locking feature. It adds an extra layer of protection.
