X2 users: do you have a good baseline to work from with the EXE? If so, please post up.
I use Fox's recommended settings and found them to be pretty much spot on. I've verified with a shockwiz. You're pretty much within 1 click of perfect depending on your personal preference.


I find the shock to be quite a bit more responsive, plush and poppy than the float x. I'm light weight 135 lbs and the float x was too damp and didn't have compression adjustments. The X2 has a really wide range of adjustment and is great for those who are outside the average weight range.

Noticed that the new Rockshox Vivid Coil Ultimate shock is available as a specific "205x60 Fuel Exe" model. No indication how it differs from the 'standard' trunnion 205x60 version.

Most detail i can find is "Rear Shock Vivid Coil Ultimate RC2T - (205x60) Reb55/Comp37, Adj Hydraulic Bottom Out, Lockout 2 (8x40),(Spring sold separately) Standard Trunnion-C1 TrekFuel EXe 2023+"

I think it might just include the lower mounting: (8x40)

Hi, just found this forum by accident after a friend reminded me that I could increase the shock stroke to 65 mm.
One question remains after reading through the thread: did anyone check the shock/frame clearence on the alloy version, frame size L? I am running the stock fox float.

Does anyone have any experience running a 170mm fork on this bike? Did it make any difference vs a 160mm fork?
I'm asking because I recently upgraded a Lyric 160mm to 170mm on a Trek Remedy and it made a significant improvement. Just wondering the same for the EXe, without exceeding the fork rake.

Trek advises against it, saying 160mm is max on the EXE. But, when I was in Canada recently, spoke with guys that had done just this. Running 170 on the front. They seem to have a positive experience. I have an extra Fox 36 and extra 170 air shaft so may try it soon.

Axle-to-crown length is mainly what you need to consider. What I found with a quick search:
Trek's "maximum" for the EXe: 567mm
Trek's recommended: 557
Lyrik @ 160mm: 561mm
Zeb's are 5mm longer than the lyrik

So you'd be exceeding the warranty length by 4mm, pretty trivial
I'm running a 160 zeb so, right on the line...
#'s are all worth double-checking but I'd say go for it. I appreciate the slacker head angle and higher BB on steep DH trails.

Its hard to load a fork when is un compressed so the max fork stroke seems odd to me. If it is some potential thing where you can push it harder due to the extra travel that seems a like a stretch. I run a Fox 38 with 160 on mine. But I am no jumper either.

I can't remember if I've mentioned this before, on this thread, so apologies if I have. I always have a slight inward chuckle at people wanting to max out their travel on this bike, as I have actually reduced it and am having an absolute blast! I run the 2024 Fox Float shock at 57.5mm, giving me 135mm of rear travel, and the Fox 36 fork at 140mm but with a Reverse steerer tube spacer, which preserves the geo of the bike with the 29" wheels F&R. I genuinely love it and ride it on everything from big XC days out (50+kms and 2,000+m of climb) to some of the rowdiest stuff we have locally, even the Ard Rock Enduro all 3 days back-to-back (the full course as event sweeper) and there's only one place where I've genuinely wanted it to have more travel (and for that I have my 150/160mm Levo SL). My honest opinion is don't go 170mm. 160mm is plenty for this bike - I can't imagine much I couldn't ride on this bike at 150/160mm. It's easy to get trapped in that way of thinking that more travel = better bike, but that's not necessarily the case. I'd be interested to know your thoughts if you do try it though - nothing wrong with experimenting!
