I bought my 2020 Turbo Levo Comp Carbon in Canada in July. I noticed the website for setting up shocks does not include the RockShox Lyric Select+ shock setup. I had to go to the SRAM website to find a user manual for my fork. I am curious why I have Lyrik fork on my bike not the Fox fork, and everywhere I look the Comp Carbon has the Fox 34 Rhythm E-bike. Does anyone know of a reason for this discrepancy? Is this a Canada market thing?

Looking at the Canadian Specialized web site, the 2020 Levo Comp Carbon model hás a RockShox Lyrik Select (not +; so Charger RC damper and not the Charger 2.1) fork and the new 2021 Comp Carbon hás the Fox 34 Rhythm Grip

Nailed it, thanks Dirk74!
What do you weigh and how big of rock gardens or jumps do you plan on going through??

if you’re build like a cheerleader then it doesn’t really matter. If you’re over 180 or a hard core rider then go for the 38s. Even girls in enduro racing are all rocking the fox 38.....granted that’s apartof being sponsored and honestly they could totally be stickerd 36s or hell another brand with fox 38 on them.

go test ride a 36 and rideover a curb then check that 34 It’ll move like a tuning fork. 38 are just now shipping in stores this week so get one before it sells out again if you’re a Cambell’s soup kid.
I weigh 16 stone. No plans to buy an awesome fork. I am a recreational rider with no technical riding skills. I have been exploring local trails. The eBike has enhanced my riding and opened up terrain that I would not have encountered in the past on my 2011 trek Fuel. I also planned to ride to the top of Spray Lake road so I can ride the Goat Creek trail from Canmore to Banff. But unfortunately, Banff National Parks has banned eBikes on that and all other trails except 4 trails in the park. Which sucks. Plus, the Province of Alberta has banned eBikes on all technical trails in the Nordic Center. Which sucks too.

Anyway, I was just curious why I have a different fork than what Specialized included in their user manual. So far I am satisfied with the RockSox Lyric Select.

Id much rather have the lyric select. Its good as is but also ez to build into the top of the line lyric with a damper upgrade. The 34 on the other hand is lower in the fox line up compared to where the lyric sits in the rock shox line up. I know the fox 36 has thicker stanchions so it has the smaller 34 internals to fit in the thicker walled stanchions. I guess the E 34 mist have thicker stanchions as well so will have fox 32 internals. Thats a decrease in performance, actually 2 decreases below the lyric level. Super cheap and ez to increase the lyric to 160 with a 60cad debonair air shaft(most people do)
Curious what the 4 trails are in banff where its legal? Is minnewanka legal? I think you might like that. I think i heard , atleast part, of the rockies traverse trail is legal. Must be some in k country around moose. Cox hill jumping pound is a classic and can be ridden within almost anyones preferred speed/control. That one would be amazing on an eeb on a clear day. Take a camera. Eventually you could start at lusk parking and go over lusk pass, up over jumping pound, over cox and back over lusk. Or for zero tech but get up high, maybe skogan pass?
Years ago they used to have mozart on the mt at nakiska. Calgary symphinic orchestra used to set up at nakiska and families would picnic on the ski slopes and listen. We had a group of 25 of us that climbed over jewel pass from lac des arc then along the powerline trail to nakiska and then climbed the 11km climb to skogan pass with mozart setting our tempo and then descended to dead mans flats. One of the most memorable experiences ever on a mtb in my 40 yrs of riding them. We would have made it an annual event if they still had mozart on the mountain. 70km round trip with good vert but even so that final big climb was just so enjoyable. Im sure theres some kind of classical music science that made it so enjoyable

Wow! Dirtnvert, what an unexpected reply. I posted the photo at Goat Creek Trail with the names of the four trails that Banff permits emtb’s.
I repost here. I will check out your suggestions. Any paved Surface where cars are allowed, ebkes are too. The Legacy Trail is paved for pedestrians, cycles and ebikes are permitted there. Miniwanka loop is of course OK because it is for cars, bikes and ebikes. Not sure why but I cannot get the photo to post here.

Oh ok, sorry i missed that. Thats a shame its just asphalt. There's so many good trails in bnp that were great in the 80's and 90's before everything closed to bikes. I figueed the current legal trails to mtb would allow emtb.
Im not sure about k country but i also wouldnt worry about any legal mtb trails there. Ive never seen a ranger in years on those trails. Theyre too busy plucking injured scramblers off the mountains. Moose mountain trail society could shed some light on mooses trails. It can be burley there but theres some more user friendly stuff on the north side of the road.
You must go around the montane trail and the g8. They both have nice loops that are fun for all levels. If not montane loop from cougar creek yo harvey heights and back is a great place to start.
Just had canmore friends visiting for rides. Their young fellow wants an ebike. He just wants to ride downhill. Maybe theyll get some. Canmore/k country would be great for emtb

I wanted to do the Georgetown Interpretive loop around Rundle starting at the top of the new switchback (Legacy Trail Extention) above the hydroplant in Canmore, but it is posted no ebikes, and they have a wildlife camera stuck on the post. I have been told, most rangers in the Alberta park system are cool, but I spoke to a Banff Ranger who said she would get my attention, and that the fine is $1,200 and a mandatory court appearance and n front if a judge. I’m not willing to take a chance. I have heard that people have been on the Goat Creek trail with ebikes, that it is pretty common. But as they say, don’t do the crime if you can’t do tue time. I don’t want to pay a $1,200 fine.

Ya national park wardens will enforce anything and everything. We used to have illegal trails and theyd chase us all over and send the coos. Fines werent that steep though. Many of the crew got fined and that signalled the mass exodus of riders to golden and revelstoke. I used to hike in to the toos of the trails and hike out the bottom so theuy wouldnt see me roll out of the exit.
K country and the rangers iz totally different. Theyre seriously understaffed and all the rangers are doing is rescues and they are flat out doing thst. If you dont require a rescue youre fine. Isnt there a good chunk of the new rockies divide traverse trail good and legal for emtb? Im probably butchering the mame of the trail but its an xc trail and super scenic. My non technical roadie/xc friends do it often

I still can’t believe there are parts of the world with such restrictions in place
R120, I keep telling myself to be happy that there are places I can ride an ebike. I know hiw sad that sounds, but it helps with the mental anguish of not being able to hit some of the trails I expected to hit after I bought my Turbo Levo. I have been looking for opportunities to interact with those who make these decisions. I have heard that riders from Bragg Creek decided they like ebikes because they can get in more runs and don’t have to ferry bikes back to the top. If am waiting for them to start griping to the right people who instead of whining about ebikes putting too much use pressure in their favorite trails.

National parks move at a snails pace and mtb has been public enemy #1 for years now and only recently gained any kind of recognition.
Alberta provincial parks are testing the waters and i think theyll eventually be excepted everywhere. The prov parks border the national parks in alberta so the political environment bleeds into the prov parks a bit. BC parks dont have that as much. K country used to be a top 5 worldwide mtb destination before the world network develooed. Its still really good just a shit ton of new destinations out there now. I still dream of the emtb possibilities of k country. There wont be anyone getting chased there on an emgb

He's been in calgary for years now.. he's good people. If youre on fb you may want to join. Theyre trying to spread the word in a very professional manner through the right channels. I have been told exactly what you say. Ebikes will be ignored on Goat Creek Trail until you get into trouble and need rescue. Then they will get your attention for rescuing you from a place you wouldn’t have attempted to ride if you didn’t have an ebike.

I own both forks. Lyrik is a better fork.
