• Warning!!

Riding a tuned or deristricted EMTB is not a trivial offence and can have serious legal consequences. Also, many manufacturers can detect the use of a tuning device or deristricting method and may decline a repair under warranty if it was modified from the intended original specification. Deristricting EMTB's can also add increased loads for motors and batteries. Riding above the local law limit may reclassify the bike as a low-powered bike, requiring insurance, registration and a number plate.

Be aware of your local country laws. Many laws prohibit use of modified EMTB's. It is your responsibility to check local laws. Ignoring it, has potential implications to trail access, and risk of prosecution in the event of an accident.

I’ve just bought a peartune 4.0 and was wondering if anyone has had any luck leaving the flow app connected?

I turned off the route tracking ages ago anyway as I use Komoot for routes so I was hoping it wouldn’t pick up the chip? I’d really still like to use the flow app for its other features.

the Flow app only reports/records what the bike firmware tells it.............it is the firmware that is likely ( either now or in any future update) to detect any derestriction device.

I had assumed that the system uses the route tracking as another way of detecting derestriction? Think I’ll just give it a go and report back.

I'd suggest setting location access for the Flow app to "Don't allow". Hopefully this will eliminate any conflict with distance over time that could cause an error.

Tried this and it stops the lock and alarm from working so I had to deactivate them. Been for a spin around the block and all seems ok.
