I imply nothing but instead asking to seek truth or facts. I am not in their circle of truth.

But some latest model do not use custom batteries like the strive on, and it is a pretty good bike.

New gen arrive in 2025 for motor and batteries without for some backward compatibility as usual (like brose).

I wonder if they just keep some stock alongside their bike to sell, only to be able to do warranty exchange if what you said is true. Still it is only up to 2 years for a battery so one can assume in consequence.

I do not think canyon are bad bike and people buy canyon because it is cheap, but it is one reason.

The spectral, not emtb, previous model, was/is still a tier top bike. You just do not pay that much the brand name.

Now with being the first DTC brand in the world it is inevitable that we see more post there and there about quality issue.
But faulty design is something totally different and they have several still on sell item, some you can fix, some you cannot.

Unfortunately you can’t buy a spare battery for the ep801. I checked because I wanted to buy one as a back up and they only sell batteries for the older ep8. I have a strong suspicion it’s the battery and not the motor but when I find out I’ll come back and report the issue here.
Shimano said it was a bad wiring harness. Covered by warranty, they sent a new one and my Lbs installed it. Working great so far.

I have a 2023 Spectral:On Cf8 and in 2023 Canyon started using the Ep801 and the batteries for these motors are produced by a 3rd party company that is partnered with Shimano. If you’re having battery problems Shimano should service your battery. I just had to start a warranty claim with Shimano due to my bike unexpectedly shutting off while riding. Still waiting to find out the exact problem. Connect your bike with etube and it will tell you what battery you have. Mine shows Trend Power Simplo 900w battery. Shimano services these.

Update: Shimano said my wiring harness was bad and sent a new one covered by warranty and installed by my Lbs. Got my bike back today and went for a ride. Works great so far.
