Yes, you can get assistance mode and battery % from ebike data filed, you can also get (bike connected as sensors) cadence, speed and rider power, but unfortunatelly not motor power.

Awesome , do I need the specialized app or just search for sensor and that's it ?

Hi,
so validation process by Garmin was faster then expected, so here it is:

Ebike Field - "Simple Style":)
Now you can place it to screen with other datafields and number of supported devices was greatly increased including EDGE devices. Even this version supports generating ebike specific graphs to Garmin Connect workouts.

As only one datafield can communicate with E-bike I had to squeeze both battery level and assist mode to one field. Optionally you can choose in settings which value to show on screen alone.

Hope you will like it!

this is great, just binned off the Specialized computer and bought Garmin 530, I set up the main points, but I can’t figure out how to add the support levels (like above 100% ECO). Also how do I volunteer a donation?

Hi @Funkeydunk, so what "main points" did you managed to set up? I need to know in which state you app is in order to help you.

Do you see Ebike Field already on your screen?
This is what I see at the moment

Jan, just wanted to make you aware that this app works 100% with the MY2020 Giant eBikes.

Any Giant eBike running the MY20 RideControl One switch is now ANT+ compatible. I work for Giant UK and we have been testing your field on a couple of Garmin 1000s and it appears to work well.

Obviously the numbered assistance levels vs. the lights being shown on the Giant RideControl switch are a bit wonky, and the naming is for Spesh assistance levels, but the good news is that it works.

This will be because Giant has implemented the true ANT+ LEV protocol, not a private channel.

Let me know if you want to run any extra checks for you this end, as we have a few eBikes here we can run it on for you...!

Hi @Easily Distracte ! That is great news, thanks for sharing! Would you please be so kind to run also Ebike Diagnostics app and tell me how many assist modes Giant bikes reports as supported (that number under assist mode after slash). Also, I am curious to see differences between assist mode indication of Ebike Field and Giant naming. I will check whether I can pair them to be aligned!

But we better to continue on Giant Forum, I will create new topic here soon and let you know. ;)

JanCapek, I can see the ebike field, bit it won’t connect to the ebike, I get the speed, cadence and power sensors connect but not the ebike witch gives the battery status and mode, what am I doing wrong

@Funkeydunk : which Edge and which firmware are you running?
It seems, Garmin broke the ebikefield for 530, 830 and 1030 again with their last firmware from last week.

BTW: Ebike Battery and Assist Mode you show on your picture seem not to be Jan Capeks ebike fields!
Did you download „ebike field“ from the Garmin IQ-store?

Sure did, it’s now showing and intermittently showing the data. If I turn off and back on again it might not show output from the bike. But this looks to be a known bug on the garmin site.

It will not work for the 2019 Giant Trance, as that has a 2019 RideControl One switch.

If you contact your local Giant retailer they may be able to order you a replacement 2020 switch (there will be a cost) which will be ANT+ compatible and *should* allow it to work with this app.

I'm using Garmin Fenix 6X and Ebike field for displaying data (speed, cadence, power, battery % ...) of my TL Comp 2020. I'm noticing that couple of times per ride speed suddenly drops to 0 for about 1-2 seconds and then gets restored back to real value. Is this expected behaviour/issue with these watches and this bikes?

Hey, I just got a Vivoactive 4, awesome watch! And with this data field, its gonna be even better. But im wondering, if a select a bike ride (mine don't have mtb mode), add the data field, will calories not be wrong? Or do the watch use HR and calculate it? Guessing regular bike will burn more calories than a ebike?

Hi Jan, been a while.... :)
I have a new challenge.. got a new bike -> Specialized Creo. I was hoping that the E-Bike field would work with the Creo as it basically uses the same TCU as the Levo. But unfortuantely no success yet. My edge 820 does find all the sensors (Speed, Cadence, Power) but the E-Bike field just keeps showing the -P-
Do you possibly have an idea?
Cheers
Andy

Quick update: I gave it another try using the pairing function instead of typing in the TCU ID in the App. Worked right away :)
Problem seems to be that they are not using the TCU number as an identifier, the ID that is showing up in the App after pairing is completely different from the TCU ID...

Ebike field works perfect on our Garmin edge 1000 with 2 Levo SL. I used the App management section under Garmin connect to set the battery ID to zero. Garmin found new bike and reports battery and field level.

Just out of curiosity:
if using a fully loaded extender in addition to the fully loaded main: what value shows ebike-battery? 150% ?

Ebike field shows 100% with the main battery and range extender connected. Mission control shows 150%. My guess is Ebike field is only reading internal battery, so as long as you drain them together you will see the decrease. If you drain the extender first I suspect you will not see it, I will test this out when I get a chance to need the extender but that might be a while.
