Do I need more than one type of grease?

Unless you are taking suspension units apart ( or a dropper post) any general purpose lithium grease will do the job for most general servicing. The exception will be the freehub pawls or ratchet. Pawls need a lighter grease such as DT Swiss General Purpose, and ratchet needs a grease with good surface adhesion such as DT Swiss Special Purpose ( red) grease. In both cases only very small amounts are required.

Elbow Grease is also good to have in stock :)
Can be used on every surface.

I'm about to service Toms front and back suspension. SRAM say butter on the front, dynamic on the back. The parts are expensive enough, but differnt grease for what seems like identical application?

I use marine grease for almost anything except chain and suspension. Cheap and plentiful, my bearings are always like new.
