mmm, and they never have explained why when their chart of global temperatures and Co2 levels that was used to show increased Co2 caused global warming...................was re examined by mathematicians and statisticians ( instead of scientists) and the data placed on properly proportioned X and Y axis, Co2 increases FOLLOWED global temperature increase....not the other way a round!!

First, please mention who and where: I mean the original papers, not some "report" and not a generic "mathematicians and statisticians". Science works with published papers, not with generic opinions spread around on TV or books (or forums....) for the general public.

Second, "mathematicians and statisticians" ARE scientists, and many of them are involved in the IPCC panels and further researches. And atmospheric scientists are very good at reducing data, but they know the phenomena behind it (the greenhouse effect caused by CO2 has been known since 1824).

I am a scientist. And I have been heavily involved in this field for 12 years (then I moved to another, close field but I am still in contact with the atmospheric and climate science communities). Please do not spread false or incomplete information. The life and future of our sons and grandsons are at stake here. It is not a joke.

Easy to find and there are many .....just dont look for IPCC papers/sponsored papers. Anyway no need for panic....not one single future prediction by the IPCC has ever happened. When I was in my 20s all the scientists reckoned we were heading for an imminent ICE Age . Did not happen.

That the science gets lost in eco-politics is sad, but speaking as a post-grad scientist myself that is precisely why I said I would not get involved in any ECO flaming wars. Fin.

Seeing as how weve went off topic a wee bit .Everything is a fortune nowadays. £23 for 2 bacon rolls and two teas in Dent the other week. I remember when I twas a lad. First wage was £8 in 1970 thought I was Erchy Dick.

...or a penny ( 1d) for a gobstopper when I was a kid............6d for a Mars Bar (not fried ) which was a bout 3 times the size of the current offering. When I first started riding a motorbike ,petrol was 34 p a gallon.

Actually, when adjusted for inflation, the cost of gasoline in the US (and in most of the world) hasn't changed very much in the last five decades...except the miles per gallon increased by a huge factor, allowing a large saving:

My feeling is a little different.

If I look at the things that I can regularly afford today, from a dinner out, to a new electronic device (e.g. expensive phone, laptops, accessories), etc., things have clearly improved compared to my parents' situation. Despite the fact that my family was middle class I got my first bicycle at about 12 years old. We shared a 50 cc Vespa with my two older sisters a few years later. Now I can buy a 5K€ ebike without thinking twice. But I keep a single, very small car because I do not need anything more than that... and neither I nor my wife are easy subjects for market sirens.

I've got best of both worlds gas guzzling camper 22 to the gallon and hybrid 59 .
