I finally finished building my e-bike. The fun while building is indescribable especially since there is room to get creative in customizing the bike.
It wasn't easy and so far I still have some open questions but maybe with time I'll figure it out myself.
A big thank you to everyone who helped me build the e-bike and especially @thaeber who answered most of my questions.
And a heartfelt thanks also to @Kiwin whose post was an inspiration to me and encouraged me so much to take a step in this direction and build a e-bike myself for the first time in my life.
I am not a heavy mountain biker and spend most of my rides in the woods, on the banks of rivers and in the city. But I love climbing hills and testing the power of motors. So the bike was designed to suit my use and needs.
So don't be surprised that I installed a pannier rack on a mountain bike.
My bike's most important features:
- I connected the front and rear lights with the engine controler (They draw power from the bike's battery directly (I don't like charging lights) Both work together when you press and hold the plus button.
- I also used Electric bike brake levers to cut off the electricity to the engine immediately after braking for more safety.
- I put the best screen for Bafang in my opinion, big and colorful and it has bluetooth to connect with the Bafang Go app and a smart chip that works as an electronic lock. There is also a vibrator inside the controller that vibrates when the buttons are pressed.
- Bike tires are suitable for on and off-road.
- Engine, all lights and pedals are road traffic compliant in Germany and the EU.
