I dont know why you are all blaming YT. Its the LAW you cannot sent naked Li-on batteries in the post. They must be sent in the frame. No different with many Li-on products over certain power capacity.

There are new courier services which offer transport in special containers. But these are not widespread.

This will be the reason for them not allowing battery only returns. This will be much easier when service center is open.
I don't agree that having a UK service centre will makes things easier - the shipping is as problematic within a country as it is across borders, because often the package will still travel by air. Personally I still don't really understand why it is seen as safer to ship a battery in a device rather than alone, but there you go (perhaps it is because airlines don't want 10 batteries in a box all next to each other).

Well it is easier. A lot easier. But still not simple.

But you could always drive to the service centre by appointment and they could test and replace while you wait... if they got the service right.

Putting it in the frame basically solves this issue completely.
It really doesn’t, assuming you package and label the bike as required by the DG Regs (I used to be a DG Shipper specialising in Lithium batteries, so I have a vague idea of what I’m talking about...). You are either shipping lithium batteries, or lithium batteries contained in equipment. Either way, the Wh rating of the battery exceeds the limit for air transportation under IATA regs.

I suspect one of the reasons they want the whole bike back is because it disguises the fact there’s a (potentially faulty, so should not be shipped. At all. ) battery in the box.

I know you cant do it by air no matter what due to the wh of the battery.

I was assuming that bike boxes would not travel by air due to size and weight. This is the limit of my knowledge though.

Well no. Just because some people buy it that doesnt means it isnt over priced.

If it sells in low volumes versus its competitor set then its over priced. I dont think £10k+ e bikes have a place in this world for very long. Especially ones that use off the shelf battery and motor set ups available in bikes 1/3 of the price.

Listening to the founder of SC i dont think even he believes in the bike. Its like they have been forced to make one due to the market moving.

At least Spesh believe in Ebikes. They just cant seem to make them without huge problems though. I didnt realise this but even the previous Levo and Kenevo motor has serious reliability problems. A guy i saw on the trails said they wouldnt sell him a belt for his motor and would only sell him a whole motor. Not sure why he wasnt covered under warranty but it could have just expired.
Living and riding near Santa Cruz, Ca my view is a little different. Everyone and their mom owns a Heckler around here. I definitely see them more often than YTs.

The only place in the world that applies.
