Bosch warranty

A group of us are off up to Scotland a week on Friday on the EEbs .One of us has a Whyte with a Bosch Motor and it went red on the bar remote just over a week ago . He took it to JE James in Sheffield last Sunday and they plugged it in and said it was a motor fault . The said they emailed a warranty claim but they won't hear bak for 7-10 days and then its up to 3 months for the warranty claim to go through .He mentioned Scotland was 3 weeks away and they have said its unlikely it will be done .
My question is ,is Bosch warranty claims really that bad or is it the bike shop .I have always had Specialized Ebikes my self and the latest I have ever had to wait was about 10 days .I usually get it done with in about a week .

I can't speak about Bosch service or warranty as I've never had one. But I have bought two emtbs from JE James in Sheffield and have had services and warranty claims with them since Jan'19. I have had nothing but excellent responses from them. My last dealings with them were about a year ago, but I see no reason why their customer service culture will have changed.

Speccy may have to have good customer service to make up for their less than stellar quality motors!

I don't think any motor is good if you ride up here . I ride with a fair few people and we have probably every different motor manufacturer and we are all always having issues. This last month alone 5 of us have had bikes in having new electrical parts .E bikes are not fit for purpose (up here anyway) Since 2019 I have had 4 ebikes and I have had in total 14 new motors under warranty ,not to mention numerous batteries and wiring looms ,switches ,TCU's .But my warranty claims are quick .

Can't you go to any shop that sells your brand, and that brand still covers the man hours.
but you have to pay a small service fee of like £20 for the shop to handle the warranty claim?
MIght be worth asking around if another shop can get a new motor quicker for you.

You could always try emailing the bosch president and explain you really need the motor before 3 weeks time
[email protected] (It's publicly available)
His assistants would probably hook you up if you're polite and explain the situation, there's no guarantee they get to your email fast enough though.

I have had two CX4 motor replacements, faster one, when everything went by the book, took 5 weeks. Second one was out of warranty case and there was some miscommunication or something between LBS and Bosch, took two months. My Specialized motor was replaced in around week.

What the hell do you do with them?

Or was the bike you were referring to a Speccy, which would explain it.
Maybe Specialized do have a problem with motors more than anyone else ( I read once though that the Levo outsold any other brand by about 12:1 don’t know if this true or not ) but the main thing is at some point everyone will have an issue with the electrics and when they do it’s all about speed to get you back out

My local cube dealer would only cover parts on warranty, not labour, as I bought the bike elsewhere.

Took me over 3 weeks just to get a replacement battery.

I recon the next time I buy a bike I'll get two the same so I can rotate them like chains and cassettes
Least if one does go pop least HOPEFULLY the second bike doesn't pack up while waiting for replacement parts to turn up 😅

Fortunately the Ebike Motor Centre is only about an hour from us so we're good. Didn't know that when we bought the Trek Rails in 2022, just got lucky.

My experience with Bosch has been 1st class, in july2021 my Trek Rail 7 developed an error 500 fault, turned out needed a new motor, dropped bike at the shop on 7/7/21 and got a call to collect on the 9/7/21 and the motor wasn’t even on the shelf ! 👍👍

The bearings were getting rough in my Brose motor in my Levo. I took it in on a Thursday and had my bike back with a new motor the next Friday. This is why I always buy Specialized. Summer and the riding season is too short to be waiting all summer for a motor.
