• Warning!!

Riding a tuned or deristricted EMTB is not a trivial offence and can have serious legal consequences. Also, many manufacturers can detect the use of a tuning device or deristricting method and may decline a repair under warranty if it was modified from the intended original specification. Deristricting EMTB's can also add increased loads for motors and batteries. Riding above the local law limit may reclassify the bike as a low-powered bike, requiring insurance, registration and a number plate.

Be aware of your local country laws. Many laws prohibit use of modified EMTB's. It is your responsibility to check local laws. Ignoring it, has potential implications to trail access, and risk of prosecution in the event of an accident.

I’ve recently fitted the SpeedBox 1.0 b tuning to my gen 3 Bosch smart system and it was working great. Absolute night and day in terms of enjoying the e-bike. However I’ve recently got a problem in that my bike is failing to charge fully. Basically will charge for a max of 20 mins and then cuts out. I have to unplug and plug back in for it to start charging again. I have reset the battery bms, removed it and charged direct and am at a complete loss. Have removed the SpeedBox in preparation for what feels like an inevitable trip to the trek dealer.

Are you sure it's the bike and not the charger possibly over heating?
Have you tried a different wall outlet for the charger?
That’s my next step as I did wonder if it might be a thermal issue. Going to borrow a mates charger to eliminate another variable.

I personally haven't heard of tuning affecting battery charging. Specifically, the SpeedBox is connected to a completely different communication.
