I just use the jaws to wrap around frame. I would be scared that the rag would fall off and leave the jaws to loose.

He uses the mega tie twists as well and also has the Thule carbon frame protector now.

Do you guys put any thing on you wheels to stop the wheels straps marking them ? I got some new wheels and don’t want to scratch them !
thanks

I use the extended package from Dirtlej; it also includes protection for the wheel straps ("rimprotector"). Our Uebler carrier requires the bikes to be very close to each other and this Dirtlej set protects all parts that could get damaged/scratched. Very good quality!

I don't bother when my bike is clean. If the rims are mucky when returning home, I just wipe the muck off with my gloves. My DT Swiss Spline HX1501 rims have not suffered in the slightest. Nor did the Race Face AR30 rims on my previous bike. Collectively, that is over 4000 miles and over three years of use without any scratches. Where I ride the most is very sandy. There were both 30mm internal width alloy rims. Unless yours are very precious items made from fairy dust and unicorn hair, I absolutely would not worry; just take a modicum of care and they'll be fine.

I have just go a new set of hope wheel and I strap them done so tight as really wobbles around more the rack than anything but I just feel better if strapped down well

has not marked the wheels yet but straps are hard plastic and wheels are so nice just want to look after them

I use the Thule Velospace XT 2 as it Transports larger bikes (up to 1300mm wheelbase) thanks to extra long wheel trays.

How are you getting on with the rack? I'm thinking of getting one.

to be honest, I've only used it a few times, but it's easy enough to use. It folds down to give access to the boot, and the straps and clamps hold the bike steady.

The only downside (and I'm sure it applies to most racks) is that you need to use a (supplied) spanner on a bolt to tighten the tow ball clamp, and you need to make sure it's tight.

if I were using it more often, I'd get a ratchet spanner to make it easier.

Looks like it’s the Thule Easyfold then . (y)
I had the XT but had to sell and buy a lighter Thule model as my tow bar is only rated up to 54Kg, on the nose, and with 2 E-Bikes around 42Kg and a 20Kg rack I was way over. So just bear in mind the XT weighs in around 20KG.
