Dear all,

I have a Cube manufactured in 2016, bike bought in the shop as new (0 milage) 1,5 years ago. Has a Bosch motor performance Line cx2.

Now, after 1800, the motor broke down and I have send it to warranty to my local dealer. But Bosch said: motor is out of warranty because is more than 5 years old.

Anyone had any experience with this? Is this even legal? I am located in the Netherlands.

New motor Costs me 950..

Looking forward to your experience.

Br,
Peter

Normaal heb je een wettelijke 2 jaar garantie vanaf de aankoop datum.

Yeah that's bullshit . Complain loudly till they listen .

That's what I Thought too..

The bike is currently at my local dealer, (not the dealer it was bought from, that is 300km away) so I could call Bosch and ask how it should be (surpassing my dealer). But my dealer didn't like that last time, they mentioned that I couldn't bring it in in the first place... But after I called Bosch they did take it in.

I've just called the original dealer after talking to the original owner (still had his number) he was happy to help me. So now I am awaiting a response from the original dealer checking what they can do for me.

Ps. The local dealer here mentioned that revising the motor would not make sense and would not solve the issue What do you think @Bearing Man ?

The motor has that very dry sound in it, apart from that it still runs good. Plenty of power and reaction is fine.

What do you mean by "revising the motor"? If it is under warranty, it should be replaced and this can be done by any Bosch dealer. The sound you can hear is your main motor bearing failing. Do not continue to ride this, it can eventually (quite quickly) kill your motor dead!

I've just contacted the original dealer and they will put the Motor under warranty.. I don't get my local dealer in this, doesn't make any sense.

So a lot of fuzz for nothing.

@Bearing Man , the local dealer was mentioning a revision because the motor didn't go under warranty (as he faultly pointed out). But this is not the case at the moment

Thanks for mentioning this

You bought the bike from shop A.. That's who your first call should always be to. Let them sort things from there.
I'm glad it's getting sorted though👍🏻

Thanks everyone!

For who's interested, bike is now at the original dealer. Guarantee process is put in motion and Bosch has asked my dealer to bring in the motor because it still "runs" but sounds like a coffee machine. They wanted to analyse it before sending a new one.

Expect the motor to be at Bosch in Germany this Wednesday, so I figure it will be out for a while.

To be continued.

Oh btw, Motor is replaced by original dealer. I only had to pay the mechanic hours. :)
Didn't you say above that your original dealer is 300 KM away that you bought it from? Thats a 600km round trip . . . yikes.
Shouldn't Bosch just have a local Bosch dealer do the swap?

Yeah correct, but sure beats trying different shops and hoping they would be willing to help, while the original shop said yes. It was worth it. :)
