Anyone do a Purion -> Nyon retrofit on a Rail?

Hi,

Picked up my Rail 5 a couple days ago, and just ordered a Nyon retrofit kit. I downloaded a user guide pdf, and it reads

with the onboard computer inserted, press the on/off button on the eBike battery (bicycle manufacturer-specific solutions are possible when there is no access to the battery on/off button; see the operating instructions from the bicycle manufacturer).

Is this an issue that needs to be addressed somehow?

Is the retrofit pretty straightforward? Any caveats/gotchas?

Cheers,

Mark

There is an access hole on the battery cover that allows you to switch the battery on.

Ah, thanks. Now that I look more closely at the user guides, it says the same thing about Purion as Nyon, switch the power off at the battery is an option, not a requirement. RTFM, as is usually the case.

I had a Trek (corporate) shop do it - there's one 10 minutes from home. I've since gotten to know the bike well enough that I might do it myself now, though honestly the $60-70 I paid was worth it, as I believe you need to pull the upper and lower battery brackets to fit the connector through, and maybe drop the motor to route the wiring over the top of the motor? All stuff I'd be comfortable doing now, nine months ago when I'd had the bike for a week, not so much. Also, I don't know if there was any addition software-related work that needed doing that needed a trip to Trek anyway.
