I'm posting this to (maybe) help other riders diagnose an annoying click sound when riding rough trails. The video description has my (failed!) diagnostic steps and the click sound can be heard clearly in the video.

TL/DR: Annoying and somewhat alarming click heard on rough trails. Click appeared to be coming from the middle of the bike. Seat, shock and suspension bearings absolved. Adjusted headset despite thinking it was not the cause. Victory!

I suddenly developed a click when riding over rough ground. The click frequency was in proportion to the speed I was riding at. My first suspect was the headset, so I stopped and did the usual checks, and some unusual ones too! Then I thought it might be the axle (nope), then the pedals (nope). Reluctantly, I thought it might be the fork. Just then, I got an insect in my helmet. When I removed the helmet, I realised that I had forgotten to remove my new hearing aids (first time wearer). I put the aids in my backpack. I couldn't find anything wrong with the fork, so I set off; but this time in silence!

Diagnosis: The arms of my Oakleys were bouncing on my hearing aids in such a way as to generate a noise that seemed to be coming from in front of me in perfect stereo (and not like two bits of plastic banging on my hearing aids!) Doh!
