Has anyone else got an analogue MTB alongside your EMTB - that you actually use!?
I have, but I must admit I’ve not used it for many months and have forgotten about it.
So tonight I took Pinkie out to do a lap of Llandegla Red and Black trails. She is a Specialized Enduro with c.170mm travel and rocking Öhlins forks.
Normally I’d be sessioning the hell out of the black runs on the Levo with most of my body taking endless compression / hits from the descents.
Tonight was a SLOG! I spent most of my time spinning away at what felt like snails pace. I didn’t necessarily feel I got a more taxing cardio session, it was about the same. However, instead of doing a mix of riding it was mainly just turning the cranks trying to get to the start of the next descent.
Positives were how nimble, light and playful it felt. Also zero effort to get some decent air on the jumps.
In summary, sometimes you take things for granted. I always remember my first outing on an EMTB and feeling ‘shocked’ at how much of a game changer it was. Over time my senses have been desensitised somewhat and it has just become normal. I think a stop gap to jump on the analogue bike sometimes might be healthy to appreciate what we have access to.
It is truly game changing - don’t forget that!
