Amflow modes

Just want to start a thread for owners to lend their experience of the Amlfow modes and how they find them. I spoke to Amflow on live chat a couple of days ago regarding the little effect the Avinox app seems to have when changing the power of each mode. I mentioned a few people found the same on the Facebook page and they asked for a link but there's no specific thread on there to link them to so thought it would be better to start one here.

I find Eco to be very underpowered and no matter what nm it is set at that doesn't change and the gap to Trail is massive and then Trail to Turbo hardly any difference. Any one else find this?

Did you guys do any range tests to see how much further you climb when riding in trail (default setting)?
Not as yet but what I found when having my first ride just on the street after I'd picked the bike up was Eco was very underwhelming and then Trail was ridiculously powerful. Pulled over and checked the app and saw default Eco was set at 50nm (no way that's 50nm) and Trail was set at 105nm. Thought that was a weird default setting for Trail as the max is 105 and Turbo is defaulted to that. I turned it down to 70nm and the gap from Eco to Trail was still huge. I'm tending to ride in Auto at the minute as the Eco and Trail settings are all over the place

Sounds like you are missing out auto mode and jumping straight from eco to trail, no wonder the step seems huge.
At the moment auto and Trail are both the same except the selectable range of assistance and torque is much higher tor Trail than auto.

Not sure what you mean "missing out auto mode"? The modes go in this order auto, eco, trail, turbo.

Yeah, it's nuts, but they're working on it.
It's quite infuriating when plodding along in auto and you need the extra power of trail for a very steep bit and you have to drop into eco before you can get to trail mode.

Yeah it's a bit odd. But back to my original issue of eco to trail being a massive jump. So is editing the nm the wrong way to go and it should be the assistance ratio that needs tweaking to bring them closer together?

Yes the assistance ratio is the one to tweak for noticeable power changes but it only has limited ranges.
I have mine set with eco as high as possible AR5 nm70, auto at minimum AR7-8 nm70, trail reduced slightly to AR9-10 nm80, turbo AR12 nm105.

Thanks. I think that's where I've been going wrong then. I've come from an Orbea Rise which just had a simple nm setting in the app. Eco 20, Trail 40 and turbo 60 were my settings. So when I've seen the Amflows eco set at 50nm it didn't seem that powerful after knowing what 40nm felt like on the Rise. I'll have to have a play with those assistance ratios and see what happens. Yeah I get that so why would they order it as auto first? Seems counterintuitive

Hi there, yes ideally Eco,Auto,Trail,Turbo would be preferred. Also is there a way (on a hopefully coming soon update) that you could give a little more bandwidth to the tunes as it feels to me that in Eco it’s just too sluggish and no matter what I do it’s a massive jump to Auto even with that wound back. Thanks for listening. Congrats on a amazing bike out of the gate 👌🏻

Agree with all comments on the modes - definitely needs changing. With Eco too weak I'm finding myself using Auto / Trail, which is draining the battery faster than I'd lke to see. A slightly stronger Eco with access to Boost every now and then woudl be perfect.

Ideal world, the phone app would allow us to toggle those modes we want to on/off so we don't have to flick through them on the remote.

Otherwise, fantastic bike. :)

Only just got mine - I think eco mode is fine, probably like 20% easier than riding an analogue bike, which is perfect. Trail could definitely do with turning down and auto being more tuneable. Boost mode is fun!!
