I picked up my Bullit from a local shop last May and have proceeded to nerd out to make it mine. It started out as an S build since that was all the shop was able to get their hands on.

The parts list.

-chris king headset
-chromag riza 32mm stem
-oneup ebar cut to 780mm
-lock on foam grips
-wolftooth dropper lever
-oneup 180mm dropper post
-wolftooth seat post clamp
-chromag lift saddle
-oneup alloy flat pedals
-160mm shimano xt crank arms
-Kmc chain
-Amygos bash guard (aka the diaper)
-dh casing maxxis assegai f/r
-stfu chain device
-180mm rockshox zeb ultimate
-ext e storia coil with a custom powder coated 750lb spring
-spare wheelset with stans flow alloy hoops and i9 hubs
-half of a mudhugger front fender (bike rack problems lol)
-various ti bolts
-swapped the tupperware feeling sram brakes to sfl Hayes dominion a4's with magura mdrp rotors in 220/203 with uberbike race matrix pads and ti bolts.

This is my first ebike and, holy shit, I'm in love. This thing just smashes trough the very rocky terrain we have up here in northern Ontario Canada. It's stable at speed and jumps very well (even if i dont). At first it felt a little heavy and cumbersome when compared to the regular muscle bikes I was used to but now it just feels right.

I have to single out the ext coil. This thing made the rear suspension feel so damn plush and sensitive when compared to the rs air shock it came with. Ran it all summer without issue, great product for sure.

Also, the Hayes brakes just feel and work so much better than the plastic sram "brakes" the bike came with. The snappy, non creaky lever action is a night and day difference compared to the rubbermaid codes and the power.... all the power is there now.

As far as the frame goes, it's stayed tight and creak free so far so no complaints there at all.

Whelp, after seeing several failures I will be taking the 5dev cranks off the bike.

If you want more info check out @mylittlebikeshop on insta, he's got a video of his breaking while riding on pavement...

After 3 good rides in the last week I can confirm that all the changes were for the better and the bike still rips.

It's only 3mm but the shorter stem steers perfectly and feels pretty mint overall. The Dominions do dominion things (work amazingly well) just in purple. The 23 Zeb uses all its travel but you don't know it because there's been no bottom out sensation at all so far. Can't say much about the 5dev cranks because they got removed for piece of mind.

Looks great. Whenever I see the lavender Bullit in person I’m blown away by how good that color is.
I hate the color with the wrath of 1000 circus monkeys. What the hell are sc thinking with their horrendous pastel colors? Worst color combos on the market.

Ok I don't mind the bronze bullet so much... but the pastels.... grrr. I get old man rage.

Other than the terrible color that's an awesome build.

I get it l, I feel the same about the old man poo brownze bullit. If I had the option of choosing a color it sure as fuck wouldn't have been either of the ones offered. The new 23 colors aren't much better. It would be cool if, for the money you spend, you could pick your own.

The only bonus is you can't mistake any other bike on the trail with a lavender bullit. I'm good with it now.

Little vid of one of my favorite optional lines. I don't hate fat biking but its so much better to be back riding on dirt and rocks again.

Yeah. I know its form over function but I would not lay down $20k nzd on a bike with a colour I absolutely hate.

Personally I like the bare carbon look.

Ps those rocky slabs look cool to ride.

Been ripping the crap out of this thing lately.

Had a nasty creak for a good while but went over the bike thoroughly retorquing everything and it seems to have gone away. You can hear it in the first video, the second video the bike is pretty silent in comparison. Only issue is I don't know what I did to get rid of it lol. Pretty sure it was the rear axle/udh.

Threw the 5 devs back on because they assured me the ebike versions were beefier than their regular cranks.. and because I couldn't handle staring at them hanging in the garage anymore. So far so good. The extra clearance is quite noticeable and I find myself pedalling through sections where I used to ratchet.

Also threw 2 tokens in the zeb and upped the air pressure a bit. I found I was blowing through the travel too easily and the fork had a bit too much sag. Thats working out and may have saved my life when I front wheel cased a gap yesterday..

Well, after 2 weeks down time the bullit is back in action. The old motor was throwing a code 010 and having some kind speed sensor issue that didn't come up on the screen until the 010 finally shut the bike down. Miraculously, I got a new motor under warranty and didn't have to wait for a backorder. Haven't gone for a proper ride yet but it works as it should in the neighborhood.

The old unit had roughly 1800km on it btw.

Added an RCW bearing and spacers to the e Storia to celebrate.

I love this thread! Checks all the boxes...Bullit, FJ40, stickers and an awesome dog. I have an FJ Cruiser built up for wheeling and a significant problem with morale patches covering the interior.

On a side note, how has the seat stay protector been working for you? I want to add some protection for the rear triangle against rock strikes. Have you been happy with it?

Thanks!

I kind of wish I had just used 3m tape on the seatstays but the AMS stuff is doing its job. The Amygos chainstay protector on the non drive side is freaking outstanding though.

Since we've had a shitty winter without much snow I threw a set of Schwalbe ice spicers on the stocker wheelset with Cushcore in the rear. On the hard packed cold days the bike really rips, not so great off the trail but amazing on.

Also sent the e-storia in for its second rebuild and they found the main seal head to be leaking oil. EXT has warrantied it and they're just waiting on parts to finish the rebuild. Nice, but I would have been a little pissed if they hadn't seeing as though its only seen a season and a half of riding.. Hopefully it'll be gtg.

I'm about to order that chainstay protector, but unfortunately shipping to USA is going to be even more than the price of the guard. About $70 total. I'm leaning towards trying some to the rubber RideWrap chainstay protector tape. Does the Amygos stick pretty securely to the chainstay? It looks like there are some gaps for mud and dirt to get in on both ends.

I'm sorry to hijack your build thread. I don't have enough posts to send PM's yet.

Regards,

Jeff

No worries man. The Amygos chainstay thingie just clips on. You could put double sided tape on the back but I just 3m taped under it so it wouldn't scratch things up. This way you can remove it and give the stay a wipe down

The Amygos diaper is pretty useful if you hit your motor often. Its really rocky around here so it sees a lot of abuse and has taken it all.

Messed around with the bike a little this week. Threw the summer wheels back on, mounted a new poo brown chromag trailmaster saddle and installed a DSD Runt air cartridge thingie in the Zeb. Have to play with air pressures in the fork a bit but it's nice that the bike feels like its supposed to again (mostly due to the tires not being studded lol). Just waiting on the e storia to get back from its rebuild now.
