Just curious, sounds like heavy spring, what’s your riding weight (helmet, H2o pack, etc…)… I’m 200 lbs kitted, ride XL Bullit with Cane Creek coil with 550 lb spring.
I'm same weight as u and ran same weight spring. I went to a 500lb spring after I put the cascade link on.

Yeah, I had some bottom out issues with the 500 lb. SC site indicates 550 for the RS coil at my weight and Cane Creek agreed for their coil, my son uses that “Springdex” adjustable rate coil setup, which is pretty cool.

Shoot, forgot to add link in case you’re curious:

I got the rock shox coil with the bottom out damper . It's pretty good at preventing harsh bottom outs.

I'm 260 geared up with a full bladder of water in the pack and switch between a 700 or 750 spring on the e storia. Large bike, cascade link.

Not too much has changed on the bike since the last update, just been riding the shit out of it.

I did throw a pair of chromag daggas on to replace the oneup pedals I had been running. The bearings in the oneups just don't seem to last very long imo. Liking them so far.

Also put the oneup v2 180mm dropper back on begrudgingly. I love the action of the 170mm sdg but the standover height was just too high. The oneup gets the seat low enough for my liking but honestly doesn't work as well as the tellis overall. Seems like it requires more thumb force to actuate.. maybe I've just been spoiled by the surprisingly good sdg.

Last but not least I was reminded how well a maxxis dhf works as a rear tire. I have been switching between a dhr and assegai for rears but had the dhf on the shelf so it got put on. Holy hell, I freaking love it... The cornering is outstanding!

Sweet ride! Here's a recent of mine.its been a beast of a bike and checks all my requirements of a bike that can handle steep and gnarly trails.

One issue I've been having is a steady creak. I thought it was a pivot issue but turns out it's the battery. I need to figure out if there's any adjustments on the battery mounts to make it go away.

Mine was creaking from the udh/rear axle before I tracked it down. Took it all apart, cleaned/greased and the creak is gone.

Glad u found your creak. I found that if I squeeze the battery compartment while riding it goes away. I think u can adjust the battery connectors.

Just wanted to give an update to the creek coming from my battery. After doing a full days ride yesterday and listening to that annoying creek the whole time I went home stripped The battery terminals off and readjusted. As I was taking the skid plate off I found a shit load of tiny pebbles trapped in there which explained one noise and as I was bolting it on it made the same creak that's been driving me nuts as it touched the frame. 2 pieces of mastic tape to keep it from touching frame and my creak is gone!!

Hey guys! Loving your bike and this thread. I own the same bike in an R build and love the shit out of it despite having some low end components. I'm slowly upgrading and currently am having the Zeb R fork replaced because I blew out the damper. I'm dreaming of upgrading to the Zeb Ultimate charger 3 RC2 in 190mm and the Rockshox deluxe ultimate coil shock with a cascade link bringing it to 185mm rear travel. I figure go max travel on this electronic beast! One of the only drawbacks I can think of is the head tube angle going to apx. 63 degrees after adding 20mm of travel. I'm worried it'll be a bit too slack for me since I ride some pretty gnarly tight single track trails in the Bellingham, WA area. I've done some research and have found a company that makes a tapered headset for our integrated carbon frames, but I'm not sure if it's designed to reduce the angle or not. Any thoughts on this idea and other potential drawbacks I may run in to (frame/geometry compatibility)? I'm also considering 180/180 set up if I can't find a good solution to adjusting the head tube angle. Can't wait to get my purple pony back on the trails :)

I'm 180/180 now but have no clue what the head tube angle is lol. What is it, half a degree for every 10mm? I've always wanted to throw a Dorado on mine but it isn't rated for tripples...

Great ride tonight... till I slashed a tire near the end. Damn double downs. Cushcore saved the day again and I was able to ride out.

Threw my spare wheelset on when I got home and the rim tape is leaking on the rear. Can't win.

Ya, .5 degree for every 10mm of travel. I'm gonna talk more with my local bike shop Fanatik about my ideas. They should be able to get me sorted. I'm assuming if I go 180/180 I'd be happy with it and not notice much of the extra .5 degree of slack, etc.. It's 190/185 that I'm concerned with. I'd love to get max suspension travel out of this bike with Rockshox parts, but want to be careful I'm not creating changes that I'll regret.

Haven't heard any updates lately. Hope you're still enjoying the Bullit and the FJ40. I've been meaning to upgrade the Fox 38 Grip fork on my Bullit and am going back and forth between having an X2 damper installed with the fork rebuild or just taking advantage of the black Friday sale and buying a new Fox 38 X2 fork. Only real difference I can see for the added $500 is a Kashima coat (which looks sexy as hell) and different bushing that improve oil flow. Saving the money feels like the smart way to go. Swapping the fork feels like it may have minor advantages, but I'll be paying for that extra sexiness when I'm looking at the bike in between rides.

With pebbles getting in I wonder if the battery cover and skid plate aren't sealing against the frame?
I had same type of creak so I placed my bike on its back (crank side up) with good lighting so I could take the time to more closely look at fit and seal. Ended up putting thin bead of silicone grease around cover & plate contact area with frame… no more creak and it's been a year.

Yaya, been riding the crap out of the bike but haven't made too many changes so I haven't posted.

The 40 is put away for the winter and there's a new project in the garage. I picked up a 1968 Chevrolet c10 stepside shortie about a month ago so I've been messing with that.

Vid of the ride last Wednesday, great little dh section.

New parts are never a bad idea and you can always sell the old fork to make some money back.. I really should get my zeb serviced this winter, I've been slacking.

I went and ordered the X2 damper for my Fox 38. Shop should get it in about 2 weeks. Got the 20% Black Friday discount as well. Excited to see the improvements over my basic Grip damper.

Dreaded riding the hardtail fattie so much I took the ice spiker'd bullit out in the snow last Friday lol. Wasn't super terrible but a fattie would have been better, I guess...

I took my Bullit first time out in the snow few two weeks ago, it thanked me with E914 code...took it out again last friday and again, E914...looks like my Bullit doesn't like snow so much or honeymoon is juts over  Well it was great 8 months/1600km's, best ebike ever :) Shimano will send me new battery, hope it solves this...
I have now experience with Specialized, Bosch and Shimano, started to look some back up emtb because it looks like all bikes needs some repair shop time :D
