Here's my new (picked up at the weekend) 2021 Rail 7 which has the "new" colour "Miami Green/Nautical Navy". However, it's exactly same spec as 2020 model. IMO the colour looks the same as 2020 "Teal/Nautical Navy" Rail 9 but, maybe "Miami Green" is a bit brighter than "Teal"? Here's a Link to a UK site with all the 2021 Trek models.

Yea, it does look very much like the 9 at first glance. Nice colour, much nicer than the yellow and blue 2020 model.

You are right, nobody pays the list price, but this is a reference price to get the discounts, so in the end you will pay more if the reference price is higher

I like very much the red and grey colour, of course It is a wonderful bike and I'm thinking about getting the 7, otherwise I wouldn't care what Trek does, but I can't avoit these thinkings

Anyway I like this bike, so I will always have the navy version colour that looks very nice as well and 0 dramas!!!

Thanks for your comments.

Lovely ?? The same as mine.
I’ve noticed you’ve got a stand fitted. My wife would like one , where is yours from?

The shop i bought the bike from fitted it free of charge, it's a AtranVelo Rex-DV Rear Mounted Kickstand - I believe they are also sold on the official Trek website. The shop suggested I keep it on for the first couple of weeks while getting used to the bike & then decide to remove depending upon where/what i'm riding.

I noticed the 2020 and 2021 trek rail 7 models have different brakes (MT520 vs m6120). This is as per trek Canada site for 2020 model and blazing bikes for 2021 model. Is this accurate?

Does the 2021 model have all 2021 components? For example I know the 2021 yari has an updated air spring.

A good number of 2021 model year bikes are starting to appear on the Trek UK site. Rail 9.9 moves up to 170 fork.

I’d noticed my 2021 model levers were slightly different than those fitted to my wife’s 2020 model but I hadn’t actually compared the callipers. As for springs in forks, I wouldn’t have clue, sorry.

Most models are up on trek Canada site as well now.

Is there by chance a product code on the fork? It might be on the back side of the lowers right below the stanchions.

I’d be all over the rail 9.7 if it came with shimano instead of eagle.

Also, anyone with an XL frame able to comment on the high seat tube length (500mm). I’m worried it might be a bit too high for me with a 34 inseam.

Chatted with trek Canada online; 2021 models won’t be available til around January.
They also confirmed the 2021 model comes wth all 2021 components.

Hmm. To get the yellow/teal 2020 model now or wait for 2021 red/black

Hi @bluewater87

I have an XL Rail. I think you should be OK on the bike with an inseam of 34”. I have a 36” inseam and it fits well.

What exactly is your concern? Getting dropped extension? Stand over height? If I can help with specifics from my bike, just ask.

Cheers

My concern is that the seat will not be low enough as i like. A possible upgrade is the one up v2 dropper with a low collar height.
My old knolly delirium had a 515mm seat tube length (vs 500 on the XL rail) and it got in the way quite a bit.
What dropper post/length do you have?

The stock dropper is 150mm and 440mm total length. I ride pretty tall with my long legs, and have the dropper fully extended, with 40mm of post left to be dropped.

Not sure if that helps or not, but that 40mm is close to the difference in our inseams...

Cheers

Very helpful, thank you. I think I'll be able to make it work.

Thinking about ordering the 2021 rail 9.7 XL in the raw carbon/volt colour.
And this is what my build will probably look like in the end.
-cushcore f/r
-front tire: DHF 2.5WT DD 3c maxxterra
-rear tire: aggressor 2.5WT DD dual compound
-charger 2.1rc2 damper with SKF seals (now basically a Lyrik ultimate). probably wait til the fork needs a service.
-170mm air shaft (2021 model). probably wait til the fork needs a service.
-megneg for shock. probably wait til the shock needs a service.
-108 POE hub upgrade (new springs and pawls: part #s 552414 & 552415)
-220 front rotor (if needed)
-invisiframe
-knock block lockring (to run non knock block stem, while retaining the knock block function). part #545523
-My existing Nukeproof 31.8 35mm stem
-My existing Nukeproof 31.8 780mm 38mm rise carbon bars
-metallic brake pads
-I may take off and sell the SRAM cassette/derailleur/shifter and replace with shimano SLX/XT and the required micropsline freehub body (part #600718) for the shimano cassette.
-DMR vault Mg pedals

Nice build but I’d do the suspension upgrades as soon as possible if it was me.

The 2021 9.8XT is nice. It's strange that the brakes are slx and not xt (it's the same with the xtr build who gest xt brakes ???)
Just add the 170mm air shaft. The carbon rims on the xtr does not inspire me confidence !
It's a pity to have 6 bolts disks. I rather have centerlock disks to be able to mount icetech rotor, to dissipate the heat here in mountainous terrain...

2021 rail 9.7 XL raw carbon/volt ordered.
I like how the 2021 model has the Kiox whereas the 2020 model has Purion. Same price as well.

Dealer site shows October delivery. I’m in Ontario, Canada btw.
Jealous of those of you across the pond who have already received your 2021 models.

it seem the volt/raw carbon colour was a 2020 model for you guys, whereas its a 2021 colour for us Canadians.
The 2021 9.7 has 4 colours listed on the Canada website; the volt/raw carbon being the cheaper colour at $8,499 vs $9,149 for the other 3 colours. I was originally looking at the rail 7, but for only a few hundred dollars more the 9.7 is carbon and has the kiox.

Do you have to add sales tax to those prices? That's a lot cheaper than the UK!

Yes, 13% is added on top of the purchase price. This harmonized sales tax (hst) is compromised of both provincial and national taxes.
I was lucky enough to get hooked up pretty nicely by my dealer though

Our prices include 20% tax but it's often possible to negotiate 10-15% off.
