Evening. After a year on my Jam, have decided I need to start doing more so thought I'd go to Mendips this Sunday as weather is / has been great. I was going to Blagdon and then pick up the trails found on Trailsforks?
Anyone with local knowledge tell me where and what is Best? Parking and...
**UPDATE**
Took everything apart and cleaned all items. Popped the pistons back in and the seemed ok. Did a full brake bleed with. Spun the wheel and perfect stop. spun the wheel again and the screech of death... pads still 'on'. Looks like the pistons are not retracting? Pushed them back in...
@Gary - thanks. I'll have a go at some DIY and then if that goes wrong will try a new one. What would you suggest if not the 520 - I'm not a downhiller, just a weekender - don't want to complete change everything - would like to keep the mount and lever if poss without spending the months house...
Thanks guys - cant believe these 'could' be described as a throwaway item? I think I'll have a go at taking everything apart and keep the "buy a new one" in the back pocket incase I need it!! Of course, finding a MT520 in stock is quite another thing!
Sorry, was dashing for the door when I wrote and posted. So yes, the ceramic pad at the top popped out, oil everywhere. Do I just need something like this:
And a case of separating the cover, re-setting the new callipers and seals and then re-oiling / bleeding etc...
I just can not find...
I need to replace my pads on Shimano BR-MT520 fronts and the two pots on the left were stuck out a long way - the left pad completely worn out. Went to ease them back in and top one popped out??
Told I need a service kit but cant see anywhere for that model??
What is the fix and where to buy.
Haven’t been on here the last few weeks so maybe late to the party but saw this...

@steve_sordy - thanks for the insight. I've swapped a couple of emails with Focus today and they do just say go back to the dealer. Although I've grovelled they still push back to the dealer but I have asked for the part number of the bolt so I can get the nearest F dealer to get a bolt in for...
Thanks guys for all the info and it doesn't sound like I'm alone on this. @H1 Dave - that sounds like a good way to removing, thanks.
@Zimmerframe , your humour is always appreciated on every post!
@steve_sordy - you better tell me what else has gone wrong as I'm 30 miles further on than you...
Whilst cleaning the bike (Jam 6.8) and thinking about the slipping hub (second time, posted separately) how I fix or do I take to shop? I noticed a bolt loose. Started to tighten and just kept spinning. Then. found that it had sheared off??
After getting over the annoyance and thinking that'll...
Evening all. I had this problem a few weeks back and was cured by my LBS taking the cassette and hub apart, cleaning and re-greasing. I went out today in the hell and damnation weather, water and mud and now have the same problem back? (same crappy weather conditions as the last time)
Is this...
For the fronts these are brilliant... Crud Front XL Fender | Chain Reaction Cycles
On the mud huggers - incredible price for light moulded plastic.... but they do work. If you want me to buy and send by post / courier to you PM me.
@DTBB
Where in the UK are you, if south west more than happy for a social distant spin on mine. I have the 6.8 large and inside leg is round about the same. I bought mine without trying so not sure what the medium is like, but the large feels comfortable to me?? Not much help I know.
