Hi Shimano people. EP8.
Does anyone know how to remove the maintenance spanner which pops up on the display when a service is due. I don’t want to take the bike into a shop every time a basic service is required.
Cheers
I had to drop the motor on my wife’s 800. Remove the 4 front bolts. Had to remove the chainring. Loosen the the two rear bolts a little bit so the motor is supported and doesn’t suddenly drop down. It’s an easy job once the motor is dropped, just a bit of a pain.
Good luck.
Hi, my wife and I have both had problems with these triggers over the years. They don’t like water too much.
We changed to the SW-E7000 series switches. Easy to use and install. Just plug and play.
Good luck.
Hi guys,
Has anyone tried the Simplo battery? 745 watts.
I’m thinking of replacing my trusty old E160 900e.
I know it will be a spec downgrade but the E160 775 or 700 looks about the best bang for buck these days. The 8000 is an extra $1000 so probably not worth the extra cost.
The 775 probably...
Shimano E8000 motors.
Iv’e clocked up 11000k’s on my Merida. 90% MTB Park riding.
My wife’s Merida 7500k’s on more mixed easier rides.
Only problem Iv’e had was with the DI2 unit.
I replaced this lead a few months back. Easy job but you do need to drop the motor down. Leave the rear bolts in place.
The lead comes with the battery mounting brackets also. $80 here in New Zealand.
Parts available through my local bike shop from Shimano.
Good luck with warranty.
From Motueka.
My wife and I both have bad colds so had the Covid test yesterday. I’ve been coughing so much I’ve put my back out, hurts like hell every time I cough now.
The worse thing is I can’t get out to try out my new xt derailleur after having removed to old Di2 unit which had been causing...
Hi Carlos,
I have a 900e medium size. I have the same body dimensions as you.
I have found the bike comfortable over the last two and a half years and 11000k’s..
The best mods I have done for comfort is short 155 cranks from Miranda and a Renthal fatbar 40mm rise. Ergon grips.
If your legs are...
The derailleur was the cause of my motor cutting out for a few seconds several times on every ride on my 900e .
Took months to prove the cause of the fault with trial and error. Battery terminals, cables, motor, battery etc.
The guys at the bike shop and Shimano were very good. New motor then...
Wife’s Merida E130 with Shimano E8000 motor, no problems after 7500 k’s.
My Merida E160 900e have had no motor problems after 10000 k’s. Have only had Di2 issues.
My riding mates Merida E160 800 has had no problems at all after 7000 k’s.
Probably of no help but the clutch on my derailleur caused a similar problem. There is a small clip which holds the clutch select lever in place, it had come loose which caused the chain to be so loose it actually came off.
Easy to check by removing the clutch cover.
Or maybe a bent derailleur...
Looks like you’ve tried all these suggestions already.
I have 900e as well.
Did have to bleed the brakes on first pad change.
Recently replaced rotors and pads. Because I was so slack I didn’t notice the small grooves worn in the rotors thinking they would last for years. Yikes.
Still use...
