After the live cast I was lucky enough to have an in depth conversation with one of the Specialized execs, 2 things came to light that were of interest to us, If we are OUT of the initial 2 year Warranty and a motor fails, whether we buy a motor at discount or not through rider care that motor...
Lets look at how they saved the weight!!!
Lighter motor (but much less power)
lighter battery (but less range)
Want more range add an extender (weight is back) cost is up
Use smaller lighter tyres (now only 29x2.3) we were told wider is better
Use a smaller fork (now Fox 34 instead of Fox 36)...
The question was asked, initially they said they were exactly the same , but then said they thought there was a newly designed one coming so we will have to wait and see, lets hope when it arrives we all get it free of charge
I was there, The microphone hog :) got to speak to Spesh brass after and had the answer given to me about out of warranty motors. If you are out of warranty and get a new motor, through rider care scheme or not, IT WILL come with a new 2 tear warranty if you get a motor within warranty original...
Just been out for a ride on one.... First impression are :Need to size up, I am 5'8" and needed to ride a large to feel comfortable, the bike is light, the bike is nimble, the bike is underspecced whatever model you decide on, the bike is perfect for the die hard Mtber wanting to move into...
You say in the last paragraph "just keep an eye on how free your crank arms rotate backwards and if this starts to change, do something about it before it costs you a new motor!"
What can we do???
Yes I had a friends motor go when out of Warranty his was a2017 levo and was given a 1,3 motor as replacement for less than £350 as a good will gesture. the dealer said replavement motors would be circa £350. You may have been quoted for a 2.1 motor but as none are out of warranty yet that is a...
There is another way of looking at it, if we have a good LBS then while the motors in warranty everything will be sorted in good time, after this we have the opportunity to use 3rd parties to fit new bearings or buy a new motor from the manufacturer, having friends that have done this already...
On my 2020 Kenevo I run Saints 4 pots and a Galfer 223 disc upfront on my 2018 I run code r rear and rsc front with magura 220 disc upfront, what I can say with true definition is a bigger rotor up front is the biggest improvement of the lot
I hope you are not saying you took the full cap off the brake lever end, you only take the bleed screw out and attach the bowl then push the fluid from the bottom up, when fully bled I always put the bleed screw back in at the top and squeeze a little more at the bottom as tightening the nipple...
L1 version of the transit custom has 1600mm to rear door so a bike wont fit in without front wheel removed, L2 version has 1850mm.. so short wheelbase bikes fit but NOT a 2020 kenevo unless you put I on the diagonal
