Comment by 'mikegarf' in article 'The most reliable motor brand (in Norway)'

I get that ebikes are a relatively new thing but Engineers have been designing and making motors and equipment for use in harsh conditions for many years. The knowledge for producing strong, reliable, servicable equipment is out there but as yet none of the motor manufacturers seem to want to or...

Comment by 'mikegarf' in article 'The most reliable motor brand (in Norway)'

From a personal point of view I understand that mechanical/electrical items and devices can fail at any time even when maintained and treated correctly. The disappointing thing which really annoys me with ebikes is the fact that in most cases we can't get spares for or repair the motors. We...

    Santa Cruz Vala

Had a look at the new Vala in my LBS yesterday. It looks ok but imo it isn't as nice aesthetically as their VPP models. Some of that Santa cruz magic is missing visually me. I'm not saying it's a bad bike by any means and I'm sure the build quality and ride quality is still great. Just a...

Is falling off a new emtb always going to happen?

Watched them at a small club in Manchester UK 1991 first time they toured over here. I was playing drums in local bands at the time. Totally blown away first time I heard Gish. Jimmy Chamberlain is a top drummer 😎

Is falling off a new emtb always going to happen?

I came off my Rise in June 2022 after buying it in the April. Smashed my collarbone and ribs and needed surgery. Out of action for the whole of that summer. 🥺 No fault of the bike just my lack of skill and bad luck on a simple bit of trail I've ridden hundreds of times.

What width bars are you all using and why that width?

I know what you mean. That calc does seem to give bars on the wider side of what works in reality. Didn't work for me either.

What width bars are you all using and why that width?

I was using 800mm Renthals with 30mm rise on my Large Orbea Rise which were Ok but maybe a bit too much. I've recently cut them to 760mm and overall they are a better fit for me. I can definitely feel the wheel twitching more and the steering is slightly quicker but not in a bad way. I clip a...

What width bars are you all using and why that width?

Just wondering what width bars people tend to use and what influenced your choices. I've tried various widths and rises etc with various levels of success. Interested to know what works for you guys? Is there a sweet spot? Cheers.

    Rise 25 creaky headset

Same here on my 22 carbon rise. Needs plenty of torque on the headset preload otherwise you can feel it all move in the frame which I hate. Takes me a good few attempts to get it spot on. More so than on lots of other bikes I've owned. Never creaks or makes noises though.

    Rise 25 creaky headset

Hi My Brother had a similar issue with his 2024 Rise. He put it down to the hidden cable headset design. I know he has tried all kinds of solutions. He said that a bit of grease on the spacers helps temporarily but it comes back after a while. Don't think he ever completely solved the issue (and...

    STunlocker on 2022 Rise question

Hi Guys What exactly is needed in order to use STunlocker on an EP8 RS motor? Is it a PC app or can it be used with a phone. What cables etc are required. Is it free to use etc? Any help would be appreciated. I would love to be able to set mine up with the US settings for starters now that it's...

Crunching noise on Orbea Rise M10 drive train.

Just an update. Replaced my rear wheel with a nice new Hope one. All the horrible noise and slipping is now history. Rides like new now 😃 Glad it wasn't the motor.

Annoying rattle in Orbea Rise carbon frame

Hi My rattle just comes and goes. There's obviously something in there but it's impossible to get to it. I considered spraying some glue or expanding foam in there to stop whatever it is from moving but never got around to it. Guess I've just zoned it out. 😖

Orbea Rise Carbon Battery Life- help needed

I have the original Vault hubs as standard on the M10 model. Unfortunately it's no longer under warranty. I will have a chat with my LBS and Race Face and try to get a warranty replacement. If not I'll peobably just treat myself to a new rear wheel. To be honest I'm just relieved it's not the...

Orbea Rise Carbon Battery Life- help needed

Cheers Livo Was yours making horrible crunching, pinging noises when it happened and did it feel like it was slipping slightly? Mine can be fine for a while then when I change gear or cadence or push harder for an incline it starts doing it. Wish I had a spare wheel to try on the bike to prove...

Orbea Rise Carbon Battery Life- help needed

Just out of interest what problems did you have with your rear wheels? Is it the free hub failing which makes a horrible crunching noise? I think mines at that stage now.

Crunching noise on Orbea Rise M10 drive train.

Cheers Tonybro I will be so happy if it is just the free hub as that's a cheap and simple fix. Going to strip it and have a look first chance I get. 🤞

Crunching noise on Orbea Rise M10 drive train.

Hi Folks Been getting some horrible crunching noises from my drive train on the Rise lately. Very difficult to tell if it's the motor or drive train. It's has a new cassette, chain and chain ring so don't think it's those. Don't think it's the free hub either? sounds and feels like something...

    Rise H30 wont turn on

Hi. I've occasionally noticed the switch lamp flicker on mine too when it's been switched off. Seems to be if I drop or bang the bike. My gut feeling as an Electrician is that moisture is probably causing a partial short somewhere, could be in the switch itself. Mine always switches on but if...
