Crunching noise on Orbea Rise M10 drive train.

Hi Folks

Been getting some horrible crunching noises from my drive train on the Rise lately. Very difficult to tell if it's the motor or drive train. It's has a new cassette, chain and chain ring so don't think it's those. Don't think it's the free hub either? sounds and feels like something slips or the chain tries to jump. I need to replace all the suspension bearings next to eliminate frame flex but just praying it's not the motor clutches failing 😬. It's a bit random too so difficult to isolate the cause.
Anyone else had similar problems or had a motor fail mechanically? If so, what symptoms did you get.
Cheers.

Hi Mike. Just had a similar sympton. LBS said the chain, Cassette and chain ring were good and they found one of the pawls in the rear hub wasn't engaging properly. New hub time...

Haven’t had that problem, however, recently changed out my derailleur on my 2023 Rise M10 to a DEORE which required dropping the motor for cabling. Big surprise inside, lots of dirt and mud from the trails. Would have thought it would have had better seals to prevent that. No issues but cleaned it out since I was in there. Might want to check that out if everything else checks out. Just a thought

I will be so happy if it is just the free hub as that's a cheap and simple fix. Going to strip it and have a look first chance I get. 🤞

I was just about to post when I saw that changing your rear wheel fixed the problem. But I might as well post anyway in case someone else has your symptoms. :)

I had the chain skipping under load in the smallest cassette gear. Turned out to be an accumulation of crushed vegetation in the mech. Crushed vegetation, mixed with a bit of oil and dust is the same colour as the mech, so it is not visible unless you take a very close look. Easily cleaned off with some shit-shifter and a stiff brush. Skipping banished, until next time.
