Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

I had a bitch of a time mounting Kryptotals Enduro casing (not the Trail) which has thicker sidewalls. This goes for both composite and aluminum Bontrager rims. But it's worth it. IMHO best tires ever, which I have on all my bikes! However, as you might have experienced, it's nearly...

Continental Kryptotal Enduro are the best tires I've ridden on.. if you can find them.

Fuel EXe Fuel EXe Suspension Modifications/Questions

Does anyone have any experience running a 170mm fork on this bike? Did it make any difference vs a 160mm fork? I'm asking because I recently upgraded a Lyric 160mm to 170mm on a Trek Remedy and it made a significant improvement. Just wondering the same for the EXe, without exceeding the fork...

How did you crack your rim? Do you have the carbon or alum variety?

Just and FYI, I had the same problem, but confirmed it wasn't the motor mounts. It turned out to be caused by the cranks. After adding some grease to the cranks where they attach to the spindle, creaking went away.

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel Exe Ride wrap down tube piece application.

I removed the rubber protection, which peeled off easily. Installed the wrap and reapplied the protection. Either way works well.

Funny, I see this guy at Berm Park (NC) frequently.

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

Mine is so silent, I almost ran by front wheel into a mother and cub bear napping on one of my local trails. I also wasn't paying attention, until I heard the mother growl. Can't get any quieter than this.

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

I have the 2.4 enduro kryptotals mounted on my Ex-e. They were very hard to install on the bonty carbon rims, but totally worth it. Best tires ever!

Fuel EXe Fuel EXe Suspension Modifications/Questions

I also was about to upgrade the stock shock on my 9.8, which has the RS super deluxe select+ installed. The problem was blowing through the travel too quickly, and bottoming out on medium jumps. By adding more air really didn't resolve the problem. It just added another problem, now having...

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

Riding recklessly will eventually destroy any bike. Yet I've cased my EXe on blue jumps many times, rear shock taking most of the hit, with no issues. The frame is not as fragile as one would think, and Trek backs up that claim.

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

The Fuel EXe continues to exceed my expectations. I recently got addicted to DH and dirt jumping. I started running bigger stuff, and became concerned about catastrophic frame failure. And I'm no lightweight at 185lbs. So I ran it by my local Trek store manager, expecting to start looking...

Fuel EXe Fuel EXe Suspension Modifications/Questions

Just an FYI. I was having multiple issues with the RockShox Super Deluxe Select+ RT on my 9.8. Like some here who gave up on their air shock or went with a better shock, which I was about to do, I gave it one last ditch effort and added some volume tokens. Surprisingly, this simple and cheap...

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

Interesting comment about the stoke limit spacers on coil shocks. Could you accurately test bottom out clearance by removing the coil from the shock? Regarding progressive spring, have you looked into Cane Creeks progressive coil? One other person here recently posted a pic using one.

I am in the same boat. However rather than getting a mediocre coil shock I may regret later, I plan to get a Cane Creek Kitsuma Coil with their progressive spring. It's rated one of the best coil shocks on the market and the locals here swear by it. CC also sells direct and often run sales...

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

I just brought my bike into the Trek store where I bought mine, firmware update was free. Though not sure if they will start charging once warranty period is over.

Fuel EXe Fuel EXe Suspension Modifications/Questions

Yes, the 11mm gap I am referring to, is the distance from seat stay to the rear triangle brace with all air removed and shock fully compressed. On my medium frame I measured no difference with mino link in either position. See for yourself. However, I'm not convinced at this point I will gain...

Fuel EXe Fuel EXe Suspension Modifications/Questions

The distance between the cross brace on rear triangle and the seat stay. It’s obvious when shock is fully compressed.

I had the same thought. But after flipping links from low to high, it made no difference. Either link position measured 11 mm clearance.

Fuel EXe Fuel EXe Suspension Modifications/Questions

I am considering stroking my Exe to 62.5 or 65mm, but unsure if I have enough clearance for this. I have a medium frame and there is 11mm clearance left with stock shock bottomed out (no air). Since a few of you here posted good results doing this on a large frame, can someone with a large...
