Coyote - big and healthy one. As far as I’m concerned they are a plague. Not so much this guy, his range is wild-slash-natural, but there are a lot than roam the neighborhoods in broad daylight like guilty looking stray dogs. They do keep the small pet population under control. As does the...
[edit: wrote this before reading what backflip wrote. He likely knows more than me :)]
I believe eMax modifies the official firmware images to override the speed limiter. Quite a feat to figure out what bits - literally - need to be flipped. That’s why you can’t install the eMax image...
As a precaution I backed out of my max power mod before updating.
The blazing fast 32kph we reckless yanks enjoy is plenty quick for me on my emtb, though Orbea runs some of their shimano-powered urban bikes at 45kph.
Not sure if it’s been covered in this thread but there’s a “universal collector” which
Enables the use of standard non-OC HS02 stems compatible with round headset spacers.
Since the universal collector and standard stems do not have the Spinblock assembly profile, the Spinblock steering...
I’m also curious what the stock power (watts) levels are for the RS+ profiles.
I’d have to reset my RS to stock to be sure but I believe the e/t/b levels are 150/250/350w, and 350w being the max for fine tune mode.
I was riding yesterday - only thing unusual was it was a hot day for SF Bay Area (90-100F) but I've ridden the bike @ 106F without issue - Nyon (gen 2) froze so I couldn't change assist level or change screens with the thumb controller. I neglected to check whether the touchscreen responded...
While the Kemen has the same 540wh battery as the Urrun, the Urrun sports the EP801-RS model restricted to 60nm and the Kemen the full 85nm.
What I’m curious to know is whether the Kemen’s motor is truly unrestricted and has max power of 600w or if it’s set to something less?
And if...
While I have a wired tail light on my Rail, for my other eMTB I opted for a cheap usb-c tail light that mounts onto the rails on the saddle. Auto-on/off with brake light feature. $10.
I’m happy with my head light - same one on both bikes, reasonably priced.
I didn’t for the dropper cable, but I did when I was running lighting and pulling the shifter cable (went Di2). It was easy, go for it. From the Blue Paper:
elsewhere there’s a conversation about this.
I have an Orbea Urrun, 540wh battery and the 801-RS. Orbea sells more or less same bike - the Kemen - as an urban bike (same frame and battery but taller and fewer gears, less fork travel, fenders etc) but with the full-fat 801 motor @ 85nm...
You can change power/torque output using programs like those from emax-tuning though not sure whether you can do it over Bluetooth (via iOS or android app) or if you need the pce02 interface and the windows app (I have the pce02). I was able to do it over BT with the iOS app though not sure if...
£2900 is about $3800 but still on the low end for a eMTB except maybe for some hardtails. Like trek’s marlin+ about which I know nothing.
I see a gen 3 trek rail 5 is on sale for about £4k. That’s a good bike. I’ve got a gen 2 Rail 5 (‘21 … and think it’s gen 2?) and it’s served me well...
I find 20 mph assist is plenty for most of my riding, which avoids most thoroughfares and sticks to multiuse paths, fireroads/trails, and roads that either have dedicated bike lanes, or on which bikes are allowed full use of the lane (big green bike icons painted in the lane) not that I use the...
Trek gave me a loaner while my Rail was awaiting a new motor, the loaner had the SRAM AXS setup, chain got bent, I was told that I probably shifted while the chain (and cassette) were not moving, that the motor/gearing in the derailleur generate huge force, enough to bend a link.
Just...
I believe the separate batteries are for non-e-bikes.
There are three identical ports on the motor (and a fourth that is close in appearance). Mech cable goes in one of the free ones. Another goes up the down tube to (in my case) the sc-en600 display, which has three ports, one to motor and...
Question: the SC-EN600 display has three ports; currently two are in use, one to the motor, another to the SW-EN600-L. In the past I’ve used the free port to connect to the SM-PCE02.
Once I’ve got the SW-M8150 Shift Switch connected, I wont have any free ports … does it matter which...
I’ve got a Lezyne Macro Drive 1000 on my Trek, and just bought one for my Orbea, but waiting for a Di2 derailleur to arrive before dropping the motor to get the lighting and derailleur wired up and shifter cable pulled. The Trek has a rear light that draws off the main battery, but if I had to...
