Why ..........?
The risk is absolutely the same as when a bike is wheeled on in person. The truth is, if you book a ticket as a 'pedestrian' cyclist, the question about electric bikes is not asked - at least not on the ferries I've used.
Had a similar result with an out of warranty 8000 motor suffering from e010 errors. If the truth were known, it's probably a known issue & Shimano are just trying to keep it under the radar. Either way, I've got no complaints with the service received from Madison / Shimano - new motor complete...
Just get it done. Had my right knee replaced 18months ago, back on light bike work after 4weeks and wouldn't know the difference pre- op now, daily riding road, cross & ebike. Flexibility is on a par with my left leg so any talk about 90deg limitation is, as has already been said, b****x. The...
Ummm - think you can, I've had it switched off on my Pivot but it could only be done by a Madison tech via my lbs. If you take your bike to a Shimano dealer they might shrug their shoulders at the request but if that's the case, ask them to contact Madison directly (assuming UK) for their...
Your first port of call has to be where the bike was purchased from, if that's CRC give them the first opportunity to respond. If all else fails, Madison is your fallback and as mentioned previously, my experience was excellent. If truth were told, reckon Shimano are aware of a problem with the...
Just a thought - have you contacted Madison directly about the problem? I had a 3yr old e8000 motor changed by writing directly to them after suffering continual e10 failures. The new motor also came with a new 2yr warrant so spot on Customer Service in my book.
Shimano / Madison (UK) will alter the wheel circumference via one of their dealers but they will need convincing that it's necessary due to the potential to circumvent the speed restriction (and to retain control of the aftermarket!). If you want to do it yourself - as Rich rides says -...
Personal experience - I had a new motor fitted recently and the f/w (v4.9) was configured with 29" wheels rather than 27.5". My lbs (Shimano Service Centre) were unable to change the wheel size parameters to the correct value as they said it could only be carried out remotely by Madison. So...
Think you'll find that Shimano are closing down most of the configuration options to the end user and to a lesser extent the same for bike shops. It seems that any parameters which could get around speed restrictions have to be managed by Madison in conjunction with the local Shimano Service...
There's a 'how to' on the eMax.com website - here..........
Firmware-Downgrade-Android-Windows_Bluetooth_English.pdf (emax-tuning.com)
Reference my earlier post on the e10 problem - I was hopeful that I'd fixed it with the f/w reversion but it's back!!! Now trying a different tack so I'll...
B1rdie - thanks and yes you're correct, finding a suitable replacement spring has been impossible though.
So, maybe a bit of a knee jerk but to keep the bike 'on the trail' I've just laid out £250 for a new rear derailleur....... ouch!!
Will have a few spare parts for an XT di2 rear mech in the...
Di2 - great until it goes wrong and makes the bike pretty difficult to ride, which is what's happened to me this pm!
I can hear the ping signal as I change gear but no mechanical movement of the mech where a pawl appears to have come adrift from where it should sit - see the photo which...
I think the bike manufacturer is immaterial as far as E010 is concerned, it's purely a Shimano problem. I've been getting it on my Pivot for 6 months now, all contacts have been cleaned and it runs great for 20/30/40 miles, then.. 'ping'....and the b****y thing fails again. Similarly changing...
Apologies but I beg to differ regarding eMax - as I've stated, I used it to change my chainring from 38t down to 36t using the mobile app and, as a result, cleared an intermittent fault that's been bugging me for months. I'm no expert on apps or firmware I just ride my bike:cool:
