Do you own more than one EMTB?

Frequent use of e-bikes, particularly when riding daily, often leads owners to invest in multiple bikes. This is largely due to the increased likelihood of mechanical issues and the challenge of sourcing specific parts, which can be difficult to find or order promptly. Maintaining an inventory...

Bosch Gen 4 - ridden in mud and rain (winter) without destroying the motor?

Steve, Unfortunately, most folks are not as positive as you, if this was a post about product failure I am sure many more folks would have jumped in. Overall, I believe Shimano and Bosch make great products and so long as you don't submerge the motors in mud, put them underwater doing stream...

Bosch Gen 4 - ridden in mud and rain (winter) without destroying the motor?

We have two 2019 Trek Rail 9.7's with Gen 4 motors - the first ride out 5 years ago we rode through a mud bog that submerged the motor for about 5 seconds. I remember rushing to the Trek store worried that we had ruined the bikes, they told us to try and avoid submerging the motor, but that...

Talk me out of a Yeti 160e

I am the same height as you and test rode both medium and large - when you say it felt small - what are you referring to ? In the saddle or out of the saddle descending ? With proper saddle position and bar choice I can make my Medium Yeti's seated cockpit feel very close to my large Trek...

Talk me out of a Yeti 160e

The Orbea is a well sorted bike, if you try to buy one instead of the YETI make sure you have a local shop that either stocks parts or can show you evidence they can get parts quickly ---- ebikes break way more often than analog bikes and have custom parts you cannot easily source from alternate...

Talk me out of a Yeti 160e

Mountain Biking Context: E-Bike Experience with Trek and Yeti Background: With three decades of mountain biking experience, we've transitioned into the e-bike world through two notable models: Trek Rail 9.7 and Yeti 160E. Rather than selling our initial Trek bikes, we've kept them as versatile...

    Locking chain wheel nut

Moab Utah USA: Local BLM requests comments about a proposal for Allowing E-bike Use

Hopefully the below helps - we have a lot of ebike negative folks in California that try to use the same weak arguments to restrict accees. Class 1 vs. Class 3 E-bikes: a demonstration is the most effective way to show land management staff the practical differences between these classes...

Moab Utah USA: Local BLM requests comments about a proposal for Allowing E-bike Use

The Moab comments site is a promising initiative. I commend your efforts to secure access for cyclists in Moab. If successful, I strongly recommend implementing enforcement measures on popular trail routes shared with hikers to maintain this access. Proper trail etiquette is crucial for the...

What tires are you running this winter?

I wait a couple of days between storms as well, I think its the clay content in Marin county that jams up the Assegai treads - I used to ride East Bay and never had the same problems with tires packing up. v

What tires are you running this winter?

I am going to try and make a go of it with the DHR 2 DD 2.4 as a year round rear as it seems to shed mud good enough for a rear. On the fence between buying a 2.5 DHR 2 for the front or a Maxxis High Roller 3. Inclined to try the High Roller as it is probably a better choice but a bit concerned...

What tires are you running this winter?

This thread has drifted off into a snow bank, I enjoy a snow filled ride as much as the next guy, but I don't live in a snowy area so please let's try and get back to suggestions for riding in winter where there is just rain and mud and not snow. Thanks, V

What tires are you running this winter?

WTB guys I know run a 2.6 Vigilante in summer with a Verdict in back and for winter switch to a 2.5 Verdict up front and a Judge in back - if we were going to keep riding the steeps this setup makes alot of sense as I do try and support the WTB folks. However, those tires are overkill for less...

What tires are you running this winter?

Sounds like a solid setup. Curious - why not run a Big Betty in the rear in winter ? What moves you from the MM to an Assegai for summer ? Also, how much a pain have Schwable thicker casing tires been to mount vs. Maxxis DD/ Thanks, V

What tires are you running this winter?

Winter is coming. For summer/fall we have been running the almost boring but solid combo of a Maxxis Assegai 2.5 and DHR2 DD in Maxterra. Live in Norcal - so we have lots of clay in the mud, once winter rolls around we stay away from any of the steep stuff ie. 25% or over pitches and stick...

Wheelsets that don't play well with enduro/DD/DH casing tires

What are you experiencing with aftermarket/ upgrade wheelsets with regard to ease of mounting and unmounting heavier casing Enduro, DD or DH? I have noticed a big variation in difficultly to mount and dismount tires between various aftermarket wheelsets. Note -usually we run Maxxis DHR DD...

    Rail (625Wh) Chainline

Agreed....to note - Trek allows you to push out from 53 mm to 55 mm because you don't have frame clearance issues going wider. Note - unless you change the front chain ring to less than 34T you cannot get any closer in ie less than 53 mm without risking hitting the chain stay under peak load...

    Parktool pcs 10.2 problem

Not saying you misaligned the bike, but were you aware of alignment of the bike in the stand when it fell ? Bikes can fall in most travelling portable stand if they are not correctly aligned. Usually a misalignment happens due to one of several things - 1)the bike starts out in the stand not...
