    Preorder!!!

You can pre-order a bike that looks good, try it, and send it back if you don't like it. It's called mail-order. Standard.

Never used gasket seal, but I assumed it is intended for non-moving parts, such as a... gasket? Through the drive side seal is the main drive shaft in to the motor, which rotates. Grease is good on rotating parts.

Bosch don't give you much (any) information about how to look after a Performance Line CX motor... But these forums can help! I've used this motor for a year and a half, and had one failure/replacement in that time. Something I didn't want to repeat, so I did a lot of research. What you need...

Attn: USA Members, esp. from States Considering 3-Class Law

The max speed is a personal thing. As it creeps up, there'll be more and more sources of objections to ebikes. Personally, EU-standard 16mph ebikes work perfectly well. They uplift. They shred single track as fast as your fastest mates. And downhill, motor assist max speed is more or less...

"I think it is a little paternalistic for the e-bike “major players” to impose a one size fits all law that abolishes our perfectly functional existing law and replaces it with a complex law that happens to conform to the more restrictive standards imposed in some countries in Europe."...

Dutch e-bike riders first to get new GPS security system

My ebike is locked outside the office with two gold-rated d-locks, but I still worry about it. I do not see much value in GPS as a tracker - I don't want to got chasing down crims asking for my bike back. But I like the idea of locking the bike down to a defined location using GPS - very...

Batteries, Is it realy worth being sexy. (Powerpack vs Powertube)

21700 cells (according to Tesla) gives us 20% more energy density and 9% cheaper ,all due to each cell having more energy-carrying-magic for not much more packaging and components. OK, you then have to pack then in to a plastic shell etc etc. But 600 Wh should be easily achievable. 700 Wh...

Batteries, Is it realy worth being sexy. (Powerpack vs Powertube)

While I appreciate powerpack capacity is complicated, and their size/weight is dictated by the size/weight of the individual industry-standard cells that make them up... The external Bosch mount does provide some wiggle-room in the design because they can always go with a slightly deeper case...

Batteries, Is it realy worth being sexy. (Powerpack vs Powertube)

Bosch has maintained the external pack shape/connectors for a few years now and applied it across a lot of different segments, for 300, 400 and 500 Wh capacities. I'd hope the internal pack remains a standard for some time. I feel more optimistic that the external mount might support any future...

Batteries, Is it realy worth being sexy. (Powerpack vs Powertube)

I'm all for external - or semi integrated - packs. I find them far more practical. I can easily take them off as a security measure; I can easily take them in to a coffee shop to charge during a day ride; I can easily swap them between the 3 Bosch powered bikes our family uses.

    Hi Guys

That was a question to the OP, but, wow, yeah, 12 miles. Something not right there. Gotta be a problem with the battery, not the bike.

    Hi Guys

Have you run the battery down to zero to determine actual range? I ask because I have a suspicion that eMTB computers (or BMS) will vary how they estimate range according to your riding characteristics. Now, I don't know how true this is but when I've done things like swap batteries between...

    Cordless portable air inflators

I'd love to see more powered trail tools that can be made light-weight by feeding off the eMTB's battery. A pump sounds like a good start. I bet it'd lighter than a decent hand pump...

How ebikes are changing your interation with bike retailers/ sellers ?

As a competent, penny-pinching MTBer, ebikes have taken me back in to local shops because I want the support for the gear (motor, battery) I cant maintain myself. I'm also spending much much more on bikes locally as a result. *However* ebike system suppliers need to better enable local bike...
