This is why I do my own work as much as possible. The shop may have more experience but I care about my bike more and will take as much time as needed to get it right. Anyway, glad you got it sorted out. :)

This is about torque. At any rpm above 62 we will not get the 50 NM because that would require more than 320 W.

Some mathematical reality: 50 NM at 320 W is 62 rpm. Faster than that and the NM drops off.

Newton meters is marketing, watts is power. ;)

Yep, your IMO looks correct to me. Helical gears are quieter than the straight-cut that the SL uses but they add an axial load so the housing must be stronger (heavier). Metal gears add weight and $$. Most of my riding is at 35% so I would rather see a new SL with the same power and 3-5 kg...
