This is a very sad but true statement about MTB in America. I’ve been riding since the early 80’s and the absurd argument over supposed trail damage is a joke. Like a 50lb bike is ever going to do more damage than a 1500lb horse, or a 250lb rider on a 32lb mountain bike is going to do less...
I currently ride a Decoy Pro with a coil shock which is amazing for steep and rough trails. I have a Rise on order because a want a lighter poppier bike for less extreme trails with smaller jumps. Even with a 150mm 36 fork, Minion tires and bigger rotors it is still 10 points lighter than my...
I’m waiting for my M10 to show up. A slightly longer shock and 160 fork is what I’m interested in. The discussion about why would you do this, this is not what this bike is for is very interesting. I have a Decoy Pro that is great in big steep mountains but 51 pounds is still a lot of weight...
I run a 27.5x2.6 on the rear of my Decoy. They are one the most difficult to mount tires. I use DH tire levers and it makes the job far easier. I live in Texas so dry hard pack is the normal dirt. I am liking the tire a lot. I like aggressive downhill trails and the tire works very well. I...
I would ride this, but I would need a few rides to be able to clear some of those gap jumps. Everything else looks like the kind of trail I love to ride.
This shows the differences in what we are all looking for in a bike. I love what Specialized is doing with their geometry. I’m a big fan of the longer slacker trend. If you want a more responsive bike you can size down a frame and get a shorter reach which will make the handling a little...
I have the Pro Race, but have switched out the X2 shock for a Marzocchi Bomber tuned by Avalanche Downhill. If you ride aggressively downhill and like to jump, I think this bike is better with a coil shock. The Fox 38 will be better than the 36 as well. If that is you, I would go with the shred...
I have seen a certain amount of negative reviews in these forums regarding YT service. I want to share my recent experience. The chain stay on my 2020 Decoy pro race was run over by a car and broke in half. I called YT to order a new one and they did not have one in stock to match the red decal...
I’m 65 and like fairly aggressive downhill trails. That’s why I love my Decoy, it lets me get to the top a lot more often. I bought a Troy Lee Stage full face a few months ago and have taken to wearing all the time. It is very comfortable, light and very well vented. It is not to hot even for...
What bearing puller are you using? On my 2020 pro race there is a solid spacer between the bearings and I can’t figure out any way to get a puller behind each bearing to get them out.
I’m 64 and I enjoy steep, rough trails and jumping, not that I’m sending huge jumps. I chose a YT Decoy Pro Race because it is fairly light, which helps in the air, and it has good geometry for descending. I rode a friends HaiBike which is much heavier and it wasn’t noticeable except for...
I’m on my second YT Decoy. I am currently building a 2020 Specialized Enduro for the bike parks and traveling. I recently took a trip to see my grandkids and ride with my son in law and you quickly find out traveling on a plane with an Ebike is a huge problem. I had to buy a second battery from...
I have owned 2 Decoy pro race bikes. One I sold to my brother and the other is my current ride. They are great bikes. Zero issues on either on (except for the awful E13 cassette which YT no longer uses). The value compared to Specialized bikes is far better. And no, I am not a Specialized hater...
I agree it is the worst cable plug design ever. I used the method mentioned a few weeks ago. I little liquid dish soap allows them to be pushed as far into the hole as possible then use a small zip tie pulled as tight as possible. It has worked perfectly for a couple months now.
We have 4 YT bikes in our family and I have owned most of the high end brands over the years. At least in the US, the YT service has been very good. I’m on my second Decoy Pro Race and the only problem I’ve had has been with the horrible E13 cassettes. That’s a fairly inexpensive fix to swap out...
I sold my 2019 to my brother and have been riding my 2020 for a few months (I got one of the first ones in the US). Zero problems with either one except for the E13 cassette. Both bikes are the pro race model and I ride them hard, including at the bike park.
There is a reason YT went with an XT drivetrain for 2020.
The E13 cassettes are total crap. I had one on a previous bike and it took a dump after only 2 weeks. E13 sent me a new one and it was very rough shifting. I gave up and switched out to a GX drivetrain.
E13 does not sell an 11 speed free...
