I've read the thread but not found specifically information on EXT shocks on Trek Rail XL. "Should" is not the same as "is".

I'm running the Rail 5 stock brakes Tektro HD-E275 with EBC CFA 493 (red) organic pads. The braking force is good and the feeling is not spongy. I'm using Pentosin LHM+ mineral oil.

The freeplay in lever so big that the lever touches fingers. I'm quite sure that as new the freeplay...
My information was relevant only for GEN 4.
GEN2: 510 error seems to be more a real physical sensor problem based on the internet stories.
GEN3: No information
GEN4: Maybe a real problem that Bosch has managed to dodge by modifying the firmware.
Interesting comment. I'm a bit suspicious that updating to "any" 4-piston calibers and cylinder would make anything better. I'm considering Hayes Dominion A4 but feeling at the same time that need is not so real.

Been also looking for Kitsuma, but it’s best feature (The knobs) is for me it’s worse feature. I’m not convinced that me or anyone else wouldn’t accidentally turn the knobs. Would be interesting to see one live if it's a problem or not. In the end CC should know what they are doing..

You can configure the assistance levels if you have the Bosch Nyon bike computer. I would still say that the added value is not worth the extra 300€ for Nyon as it rarely comes installed with a new bike.
