I wasn't implying his (or my damper) was at fault. I also thought the yaris were good until I upgraded. I spent a lot of time setting mine up with the basic adjustments there were to get it as best I could. I even used a shockwiz that told me it though the yari was fine except for a bit of HSC...
When I started upgrading my Rail 7 I was having trouble with my wrists & hands & was keen to get better small bump compliance (our local tracks are pretty raw & don't lend themselves to too much speed :-0 )
I started with better tyres- maxxis DHFs -run at lower pressures with cushcores in...
You need to upgrade your suspension. Cushcores won't do bugger all for stability.
I upgraded my fork damper to the charger RC2 & SKF wipers- absolutely amazing difference, could keep raving for hours on how good the front feels. Even though I thought the yaris were good initially, the upgrade...
You mean wound right in then one click out? If so that's what I run mine at. I was really unhappy with mine and about to sell or swap it until I adjusted the reboud right in from where it was set. It rides like your described now apart from a few bottom outs which I can live with.
I can't help...
That there be the perch. You may have been distracted by Gary’s version which it has to be said would probably be what it would look like if trek had actually designed it ?
Very good Gary. That’s going straight to the dad jokes hall of fame.
Stand down everyone I’ve found the problem. There was a microscopic screw missing that locked it in place. Luckily I had a smashed laptop with one I could salvage so easy fix.
Teachable moment though for those like me that...
Had a few offs lately & found that my SLX shifter is moving on its' perch when trying to shift. I tightened it up but no go. I took it off the perch & noticed on the bottom it has a steel roundish kinda fixing plate with 2 square edges that should sit into something in the base to stop it...
Be interesting to hear your feedback. Is Jesse tuning it to your weight? I'd like to hear how it goes straight out of the box before you do anything to it.
So you'd lower the Zeb down? That would be an interesting comparison to the lyrik.
I often (when there's nothing on the telly) watch my lyrik /Yari flex while riding & wonder if it is such a bad thing. Sideways flexion is unwanted however wouldn't fore & aft flexion arrest vibrations that would...
Update - I talked to the tuner/dealer who said the damping should be 3 clicks from wound up so wound it right up & back one & it is much much better. I was on the verge of throwing it away however now I can't really fault it - well apart from the blingy bits which I'll have to deal with with...
Good stuff. Those Zebs look good! I still can't get over how amazing my forks feel after changing the damper to a lyrik spec - you'll find the harder you punish them the better they'll feel.
