On Mon 18th Sep'23, I rang Rutland Cycles in Whitwell to ask if they could do a job on my emtb. The workshop guy I spoke to said yes they could but the earliest date he could book me in was 26th Oct'23. Five and a half weeks!
I mentioned this to Jack at Newark Cycles today and he told me...
Jack of Newark Cycles completed the job late yesterday after waiting one day for delivery of the control wire. He thought he had the control wire in stock, but it was the wrong one. He couldn't get the light cable, which was just as well because I had decided not to refit the light as I had...
Stratford upon Avon, yes. River through the centre, home of Shakespeare, lots of oldy-worldy buildings, what's not to like. But stay away from Oxford! OK, city of dreaming spires and all that, home of Inspector Morse, but it is one of the most unfriendly cities to cars that I have ever come across.
@Cavi If you really want to know where to set the pedal assist, measure your heart rate up a climb on your mtb. Then when you have fully recovered, do the same on your emtb with the assist at the lowest level. Vary the assist and gears until you achieve the same time up the hill. Compare heart...
I have a one-pound weight tin of Duckham's Lithium 10 grease that I bought when I got my first car in 1973 (a 1967 Mini 850, if you must know!) The L10 looks, feels and smells just like it always has done.
I still use the grease and I still have half of it left! :)
Sorry to hear about your injury, you must be gutted to have to sell such a lovely bike. :(
I know that bikes lose value with time, but if it just sits there in your shed it should prove to be an incentive to your recovery. Of course, you may need the money if you are not working, but if not -...
I had a word with Jack at Newark Cycles (really good!). He was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about it; he even had some cables in stock! The other end of the control cable does connect to the motor. He asked me if I could take the bike in asap. So I did! :giggle:
Following the suggestion from...
PS: I suspect that the knockblok "thing" has done the damage. From time to time I have noticed that the knockblok was not central any more, in that the amount the bars would move to either side was uneven. Each time, I corrected this imbalance by moving the bars by force. I say "force", but it...
Good thought! Thank you very much. :)
I'll have a look tomorrow. The battery comes out easily, but I only remove it occasionally to check for muck (I never find anything but a small amount of dust). I normally charge through the connection port in front of the shock.
