    Charging EMTBs in the Field

I bought a "JEEP" of an EMTB for hunting (E-CELLS Super Monarch Crown) with two batteries that powers its two hub motors. To be able to stay in the field hunting or exploring old Nevada mining ghost towns I needed a way to charge the bike. Rejecting a small Honda gas generator was easy. I didn't...

    E-Cells hunting e-mtb

I'm wondering why you think my e-mtb is "light off-road bike" when it has 4.5" tires, two wheel drive and two batteries. No, it won't do jumps and is not meant for fast trail rides but it will tackle very steep terrain, both up and down, with its hydraulic brakes and 2.2 mm thick discs. As I...

    E-Cells hunting e-mtb

Cozzy, I think you may need to re-think how broad the definition of mountain bikes can be. 1.) Can the bike traverse rugged terrain? 2.) Does the bike have decent range? 3.) Is the bike made to be nimble or to be a hauler of heavy loads? My bike answers #s 1 and 2 "yes" and #3 "heavy hauler"...

    E-MTB surplus greatly exaggerated?

I keep reading about this supposed e-mtb dealer surplus but I've been waiting... and waiting since late December to get my new E-CELLS Super Monarch Crown e-mtb and now I finally get word the it is "on the ship" and will be ready for pickup in late February. The company HQ is only 50 miles away...

    Battery charge times?

I'm new to e-bikes but my inexpensive Raleigh city e-bike has no limiter in it to "taper charging down" toward 100%. I hope my new e-mtb has that built in. I'll have to call and ask Monday.

Specialized Levo turbo to powerful for Sram cassettes

Back in the '80s and '90s when I raced my Canondale I always tried to stay in the 90 RPM cadence range to save my knees as well as be most efficient. I still ride that way on my city e-bike and will do so when I take delivery on my e-mtb next month. My physical "battery" needs to be efficient too.

750 watts, 52 volt BAFANG motors on my e-mtb

My bike's company, E-CELLS, says they asked BAFANG to make 750 watt, 52 volt motors for my 2 wheel drive hunting bike. Are there any other e-bikes using hub motors this powerful (52 volts)? To run these hub motors are two large batteries. The down tube battery is 52V, 17.5 ah. The rear rack...

    E-Cells hunting e-mtb

SwampNut, I agree that my E-CELLS mtb is not "nimble" or "responsive" but much more of a Jeep. In the sense it can haul a heavy load without complaint and go decently long distances on a charge it is exactly what I need, on and off trails, for hunting in Nevada and other western states. But...

    E-Cells hunting e-mtb

Check out the E-CELLS line of emtb's. For hunting I ordered the Super Monarch Crown with 2 wheel drive, 2 batteries (52V, 14 ah down tube and 52V, 17.5 ah under the rear rack), dual suspension and Shimano Diore shifter. Brakes are 4 piston, 2.3 mm thick brake rotors and hydraulic brake lines...

    E-Cells hunting e-mtb

I recently ordered an E-CELLS brand e-mtb. It's a Super Monarch Crown 2 wheel drive, 2 battery dual suspension bike with front basket and rear rack/battery mount. It has torque sensing for smooth motor assistance. At just over $5,100. with Nevada state sales tax and a introductory $1,000...

    E-MTB backcountry camping

Hardtail, As a former stage racer in the 80s I have done my share of pedaling. When my buddies and I could maintain a 20+ mph. average in a century ride we knew we were in "racing shape" but e-bikes are totally new to me. "Supposably" (as Joey in Friends used to say) I will get more miles using...

    Waterproof winter gloves

Mikerb, I have 4 mm thick neoprene gloves for duck hunting and decoy setting/retrieval BUT they are not nearly as warm as dedicated ski gloves. You can improve the warmth of any gloves with light ripstop nylon uninsulated mitten shells. They are sold at backpacking websites that sell ultralight...

    EMTB triangle stand

I like the triangular stand idea as triangles are inherently strong. Made of 7000 series tubular aluminum for strength this would be a very good stand. Design, test and produce it in a crowd-funded cottage industry start-up - please.

    Waterproof winter gloves

Moto13, your leather glove idea is OK as long as the palms are of waterproof material. And I don't mean just Gore-Tex or some other WPB material but true totally waterproof synthetic outer layer palm,, otherwise your palms will become uncomfortably wet and cold in snowy weather or dangerously...

    E-MTB backcountry camping

Do any of you use your E-MTBs for backcountry camping? IF I ever can take delivery on my E-CELLS Super Monarch Crown 2 wheel drive, 2 battery dual suspension hunting bike I will also use it for backcountry bike camping. It was to be delivered late Dec. 2022, then mid Jan. 2023, now mid Feb...

NEW BATTERY TECH COMING FOR E-BIKES?

The many auto companies that are betting heavily on SOLID STATE batteries may surpass GM and Ford in battery performance IF their gambles pay off. One thing is for sure: The battery technology race will continue for at least a decade.

    "Ebike" Tyre levers ?

As Churchill so aptly said, "England and America are two nations separated by a common language." (I did know the Brit spelling of tires/tyres.) BTW, how many "accumulators" does your e-bike have? 😊

NEW BATTERY TECH COMING FOR E-BIKES?

I wonder if perhaps e-bikes will see another type of improved battery tech than the automotive industry gets.

    Talk to me about Mullets

"Mullet" wheel setups may be great if you are riding faster than a crawl but my 2 wheel drive, 2 battery dual suspension E-CELLS Super Monarch Crown is for HUNTING and carrying a load of meat out so I doubt if a mullet wheel setup would help me a lot, especially since the rough terrain I'll be...
