Yup we said the same thing - there was tons of hikers about, a puncture is bad but a sharp chunk of metal through your foot would ruin your day pretty quickly.
I had 2 punctures on a local trail because a farmer had put barbed wire across the ground. I just love it
The UK in general I find to...
Went up to the lake district a few months back with a friend - he got 3 punctures in the space of 20 minutes.
Couldn't work out what was going on till we pulled a bunch of sharpened metal spikes out of the tyre that had been left on the trail stuck in the floor.
I don't get what goes through...
Not sure about chainring but I know for a fact that crank arm length is something you have to update software for
So I'd guess chainring size too would need doing
I don't often make reviews for companies but feel like I had to for these guys
(sorry if this is in the wrong place, I couldn't find a company review forum)
I took my Fox 34 Rhythm fork off my 2020 Cube Stereo 140 HPC to check over the seals and give it a bit of an oil service for winter.
I...
I'm sat here reading this after watching an endless stream of youtube reviews of LIGHTER 2022 bikes with better performing parts. Brands playing with long travel enduro e-mtb's etc... and I'm just wondering if I can have some of what you're smoking for new year?
The first mainstream 29er was launched in 1991.
The specialized enduro was launched in 1999
You're sort of right about the 29 option on it though - that was 2013. The year after the 2012 london olympics.
This thread makes me glad I have lots of christmas booze in the house :D
I bought the lifeline one in the sale.
It works brilliantly.
As Steve said it does have a limited range but I found 2-24nm is perfect for all the bars, stems, bearings, seat clamp etc.. etc.. and I only really care about using a torque wrench on the gentler stuff, especially with a carbon...
Personally I'm gutted. I'd love to get out of this country and my longer-term plan was to go work in Portugal or Germany. That seems somewhat unlikely now, it's probably easier for me to retire to san francisco or canada.
It's not just having to pay the UK Duty and Tax - that was what they had to do before brexit
Now you have to declare materials used, country of manufacture/orign and file extra customs paperwork for every shipment etc.. etc..
You could just sit on a high horse and say every EU company that...
Incorrect. Especially after brexit.
I worked writing IT systems for couriers across Europe for 10 years and the e-commerce company I worked for sold over £250mill into Europe.
For a start if you buy from US several couriers can clear customs on the plane. Tax is not charged and you are liable...
It's a shit show
I found buying components from the US was cheaper AND quicker.
Some tyres and other bits from Germany/Spain took over a week to arrive - mostly sitting in the customs clearance backlog
3 days direct from north america and cost less.
It's only going to keep getting worse next...
What a massively shitty generalisation.
I know a load of late 40, early 50 year old MTB'ers that throw themselves at shit like they were in there 20's.
I've had a fun day!
Took my fox 34 forks off to see if I could replace all the seals and oil over winter.
The forks were an absolute mess, someone had chucked half a bucket of grease in them during the last service, so I nearly nocked myself out trying to pop the air shaft out with the negative...
When I took mine into a LBS and asked if they could replace the freewheel unit they told me it would take 2 months to get parts and “you’re best having 2 emtb’s mate so you have a spare one to ride if your first one needs work doing”
Yeaaaaaaaah let me just go spend another £5k on a spare bike...
I've thought the same - as I said mines in an alarmed locked garage, with a massive motorbike chain and gold standard lock on it.
The CCTV is motion sensitive and alerts me on my phone.
It's protected much better than my car that just sits on the driveway. But at the end of the day £300 a year...
Ahhh sorry didn't pick up on that - usually people just go full conspiracy theory on everything here
I have mine insured, it's £26 a month - which is more than my car insurance. But then the bike is worth more than the car so...
My point is that the benefit of being able to possibly track your bike if it's nicked and ridden off, allowing you to recover it outweighs, in my opinion, the pure paranoia that someone will see your bike unattended with a cheap U lock and decide to whack an airtag on it with a 3d printed mount...
