Im running an HG steel freehub with 10 speed Sunrace 11 - 42 with 29" wheels. That gives enough range for the places I ride and durability has been excellent. I like that the Sunrace cassettes have an aluminium carrier for all but the smallest 4 sprockets.

I'm 180 cm on a medium although I "should" be on a L. Mondraker sizing is on the big side so personally I'd say you'll be fine. I have no regrets buying the M.
