I suspect it's a bit of both. As Gary said they will be lower profit so A) they don't want them taken off bikes and sold for RRP (like multi-pack cans of coke "not for resale") and B) they don't want people nicking them out the back door
There is a rumor that I want to put to rest. I have heard people say that the white logo Maxxis tires are different from the yellow aftermarket tires, they are OEM only, and either they are blemished or not made to the same standard. This is 100% incorrect. Confirmed by the head of Maxxis North...
In this thread we believe maxxis setup entirely new manufacturing lines with custom cheap compound to sell to OEMs rather than just changing a paint colour.
I’m off to Gisburn today. My mates still running a white label DHR II on the rear and a yellow label DHF on the front. I’ll pre-book the...
Not to be negative or anything but take the calories burnt with a pinch of salt. 90% of apps don't take into account the motor assist.
Strava/Apple/Myfitnesspal - 1700 calories burnt. My actual bosch app that knows how much the motor assisted - 900 calories burnt.
But I agree with everything...
The "making a good example" argument is the strongest one that should be emphasised here. Especially at bike parks. Too many young kids who think helmets look daft because older blokes wearing all the cool Fox gear aren't wearing them.
I've never been able to understand why people care what...
I do Red Kite nearly every weekend!
I'm guessing on your non e-bike it was the two big climbs you struggled with?
I always feel guilty biking past non e-bike riders huffing and puffing up those :D
I wasted waaaay too much time worrying about this before doing my first tubeless setup. Nearly bought one of those airshot can things, or one of the track pumps with a canister on for £££'s
Try it first - I've now done Schwalbe Eddy Currents, Hans Dampfs and Maxxis DHR/Assegai all using just my...
Just to add - I had a thread about this recently too.. and a few other Alex EX30 owners chipped in
They are nightmare wheels to tape up, like fully horrendous
I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact that whenever you retape them and fit new tyres they will leak air overnight and go flat...
I had an off at Leeds Bike Park earlier this year, pretty big drop into a jump, landed ok but it was so wet the rear wheel kicked out and threw me over the side
My helmet hit a large rock right where my temple is. I ended up with cuts and big bruises on my cheek. My ear was also grazed pretty...
Fitted a set to a mates bike the other weekend.
Lovely looking kit.
I would say for brute stopping power they don't seem to be any more powerful than others BUT the modulation compared to my XT's is amazing. You can really feel the bite point and I felt a lot more in control with them.
I've only been called a cheat by two road bikers on a road section of my local loop
I'd just been chucking it through the woods and then there's a hill climb on road up to the next offroad section - so whacked it in turbo and overtook a couple of older road bikers who both shouted "OI THAT'S...
Agree with this completely.
I think it depends on what you want to do with the bike but for me the downhill fun is a bit of end-of-week stress relief.
If I wanted to really focus on getting fitter I'd probably bin it off for a regular MTB, but I don't enjoy sitting grinding away on climbs for...
