Mine is under warranty too, but I have a good relationship with my LBS and the wiring that I have modified is available in separate pieces anyway. My take on it was also that I was removing the likelihood of having a warranty claim (for rotten wiring at least), not increasing it.
I removed the...
I do think that a 20mph limit (as in America) on the road would actually be safer than the 15mph that Europe has.
A factory update wouldn't necessarily overwrite changes made, it would depend on the components used and the procedure.
Unfortunately it where you can't see that the water ingress does most damage, inside the loom and connectors.
Fix the little problem before it becomes a bigger one is my opinion.
Part of the appeal with a cheaper bike is that I'll throw it at or down anything that I'm braveenough to try. If I had a 10k bike I'd definitely be less brave. :)
Just a little update on the battery jacket after trying in the cold today. It very definitely improved the battery life. After 14+ miles with 1500 feet of climbing, quite a bit of it with the boost up, it just dropped down to three blobs of battery at the very end of the ride.
A similar ride in...
I suppose luck has something to do with it.
Yes, I've completely reworked the wiring on my trance but I did that of my own accord because the LBS were always fixing water ingress problems on other bikes, and yes I have a problem with my battery which I'm working around, BUT, my neighbour has a...
I just thought I'd share my fix for the weak spring upshifting problems that SRAM derailleurs commonly suffer with.
I just added a smaller diameter spring (silvery coloured) inside the original spring to make up for the loss of tension in the original due to stretching. It was fiddly to do and...
The design of the '21 bike is certainly improved in many areas so, unless you're getting a massive discount on the '20 bike, you're probably better off with the newer one, assuming that you can actually get hold of one. Looking at the build spec, the newer bike looks better spec'ed to me in...
The pre- 2021 Trance doesn't have the terminals in the port to fit a range extender.
If you need more range your options are:-
1: turn the assistance down using the app, which does work at last.
2: buy a 625 battery
3: buy a spare battery and put it in your backpack.
4: buy a later bike as...
Exposure Fuse is perfect for a bright commuting light. Not Chinese either, British made. If you want proper off-road lighting for seeing where you're riding at speed unfortunately the Giant doesn't provide enough juice.
Got a downtube jacket and fitted some eyelets into it so I can pass it over the bottle cage mounting mushrooms. I have my lights (Hope R8+) battery fixed to the bottle cage. Just thought it might be of interest to anyone trying to keep the water and crap out and some heat in the battery in the...
And is exactly the reason why I suggested regulating the energy output/capacity.
F1 is also much, much closer than it would be if there weren't so many tight regulations. Renault made a fundamental mistake with their turbo design from the off, and have been on the back foot ever since.
Honda...
Ok, in essence I said " better manage the energy".
That applies to all kinds of disciplines; boxing, horse racing, boat racing, car racing and e-bikes too. You wouldn't put a heavyweight with a flyweight, because the energy outputs are different.
Regulate the energy output and you regulate...
Common sense says:-
From the results there's clearly a Bosch-favouring advantage. The rules WILL change to make it less so, sooner or later unless it is to become a one-make championship. I was merely suggesting a method that might be used to regulate things so that other makes can be more...
You're arguing that it's better to be heavier in downhill and that changing the regs would be a bad thing because it would favour lighter riders; er yes, make it so that more people can be competitive.
I'm comparing with the likes of circuit racing and jockeys etc etc, obviously downhill racers...
