It would be super easy for motor companies to diagnose if a chip is fitted, so why wouldn't they?
If cadence/wheel revolutions > 1.75 whilst delivering torque for more than a second or two then it's chipped.
In my experience, far too many people just don't understand the lightweight e-bike thing. Heads firmly in the sand. Their loss, they're missing out on a great riding experience in my opinion.
I've got some full fat bikes as well as SLs, and for most rides I prefer the SLs, yet still some people...
That's not how I read it.
Two years warranty on the frame for the first and second owners.
Same for RIGID forks.
Two years warranty on everything else for the first owner only.
Just frame and rigid forks are transferrable then.
I knew it definitely wasn't the case with motors because I have another mate who's had to buy a motor, despite the bike being virtually new, because he's not the original purchaser.
The whole thing absolutely stinks if you ask me.

With Giant, I've had issues with my bike, my wife's bike and two of my friends bikes, and every time it was a dreadful fight to get a solution, and I didn't even always get that. For one of the bikes I just gave up and bought a motor, when what I really should have done was go legal.
It's...
That is exactly right. Most bikes have issues. Specialized have fantastic support and, even though the Brose motors are absolutely dreadful, Spesh sell zillions of bikes because people have the confidence that problems will be sorted.
I'm lucky enough to have various bikes at my disposal, both SL and full fat.
In a nutshell, an SL is much slower on steep climbs but FASTER EVERYWHERE ELSE.
They're also more economical if you like long rides.
Most of my PBs are on the SL bikes.
Over the course of a ride with varied gradients...
In my experience Giant has been both the least reliable and Giant UK has been the least helpful in sorting problems out. Absolutely disgraceful in fact.
I've had zero issues with my other bikes, but my favorite is probably my Polini motor. Not only has it been completely trouble free, but if...
