Would anyone know where I could source a derailleur hanger for my Trek Rail 5. It's to carry as a spare.
I can't get hold of my LBS due to Covid.
Thanks
I'll monitor mine. I'm sure I heard a rough noise when I was cleaning it the other day. I'll have a better look tomorrow. My LBS isn't doing repairs at the moment so I hope it hangs on if it is.
I've ran these in the front and rear for 2 months now. 2.5 Maxxiss DHF 3C Maxx Terra EXO up front and 2.5 Maxxiss Aggressor 3C EXO in the rear.
I use Continental Tubes. I'd only use the Tubolitos as a spare. Tyres are running around 24psi.
These have been smashed around rocks plenty of times...
Trek Rail 5 Owner.
I originally ordered the 7 in the Red / Grey. My LBS couldn't get it for over 3 month's so they knocked my 500.00 off a Rail 5. I actually preferred the Green but liked the spec of the 7.
Before the bike left the shop. I had it Shack Wrapped in a Matt wrap. I'm local to...
I have the Rail 5. Before it left the shop I swapped the derailleur, shifter and chain to GX. The SX / NX looked way too flimsy.
I also swapped the dropper remote to the one up components version. I've also swapped the brakes to the Shimano MT520/501 along with Ice Tech rotors.
Wish they'd...
I own the Trail 5 at the moment with the
160mm Rock Shox 35 - 44 Offset
RockShox Deluxe Select+, 230x57.5 mm
What would be a good upgrade for both of these. Not Fox Factory sort of money. Fox or Rockshox.
Would the offset of the front fork have to be the same so it doesn't affect the head...
Yesterday I drove 9 miles to an empty car park. Got the bike out, rode 30 miles for about 4 hours or so around the Pennines on a ride I'd planned on Komoot. Saw about 3 hill walkers. Drove back home. I don't see any problem whatsoever with that.
This is from my 500kwh Trek Rail 5 yesterday.
I weigh 13.2st. Carrying 1.5l water plus the usual spares. Maxxis DHF 2.5 24psi front and Maxxis Aggressor 2.5 24psi rear.
Just under 32 miles and 4200ft climbing.
This was in the Pennines majority of the climbing wasn't fire road surface more...
The stock Rail 5 comes with a mixture of SX and NX Eagle. It's pretty plastically compared to what I'm used to. I've swapped to the GX which is all metal and more robust. Along with the GX chain as the SX is shocking.
I had originally ordered the 7 but they couldn't get it for 4 months. I actually preferred the Matt black / olive of the 5. I've already switched the drivetrain to full GX Eagle and the brakes to the MT520. Amongst other things. I'll swap the front forks at some point.
I noticed the other day they had launched this model. A bit disappointed. Would have liked the bigger battery. I've done 40 mile rides on the 500kwh and not killed it so it's not all bad. Shame they didn't think of this before launch.
Love my Rail 5. Done 320 miles so far.
So far I've changed the shifter and derailleur to GX. Really didn't like the NX. Too plastic. The GX shifting is way crisper and got the GX chain too. The stock NX chain was nasty. Feels like a different bike.
Dropper lever to the One Up V2. Different...
I don't think I've ever ran any tyre at 30 PSI. You must have been bouncing all over the place. I'm at 20 at the moment I'll maybe increase it a tad when I change tyres and see how it goes.
Thanks for you help it's greatly appreciated. I'm running a tannus insert in the rear and tubeless up front at the moment. I've been testing the tannus as there's no mess when it comes to tyre changes and you can still run lower pressures. My rims are 35mm. I was thinking of running 2.5 Minions...
I was about start the same thread. I have the Nobby Nics on mine from stock at the moment. They've been slippy as hell through the winter but they'll probably be o.k in the spring / summer. Not sure whether to change them or not. What size Minion's are people running. 2.5 front and back or 2.5...
