    Bad backs & emtbs

I am not a General Practitioner, but my limited medical training tells me that an 'incredibly active sex life' can only build up one muscle, and that is as useless as tits on a bull whilst mountain biking.

    What are the bad points

Good on ya mate! In 2003 aged 57, I had a heart attack. Diagnosed with a hereditary condition called Coronary Artery Disease (CAD). Have always kept reasonably fit since I can remember. Had another angiogram two years ago and told heart arteries had deteriorated so much there was nothing...

buying second hand giant trance e+1 pro

I hope you purchased the Giant. I purchased new a 2019 Giant Trance e-mtb +1 pro when they first distributed them in NZ in March 2019. Initially the LBS replaced 3 faulty RCO units. Over the two years I have had the Giant, I have done 7600 kilometres 50% on MTB trails, the rest on getting to...

Giant Ride Control One - Garmin Belt HRM Model 1G

I need help. My e-mtb is a 2019 Giant Trance +1 pro and the Ride Control One seems to be working fine. I purchased a new Garmin (belt type) HRM Model 1G about a year ago. Ant+ Try as I may, I can't get it paired up to the Ride Control Ap on my iPhone 6S, neither can I get it paired up with the...

How much battery do you need on your next emtb?

So many factors come in to how many km/miles one will get out of a battery. Giant Trance e-mtb +1 pro. 500 Kw internal battery. Riding weight with a small back pack = 91 kg. In ideal conditions, I can get close to100 km before the red light comes on. Ideal conditions equals smooth flat...

Orbea Rise M10 First Look at the lightweight rocket ship!

I think you are being a little unfair with your final comment. I prefer the Maxxis that came with my Giant Trance e-mtb +1 pro. It doesn't mean I slag off the competition. I have a Specialized Butcher on the rear at the moment, but I prefer the Maxxis that was on it. That is not to say the...

    My Specialized Levo eats chains

I feel rather embarrassed. Here in top of the South Island (NZ) where I live, most trail riding is done on dry trails. Very little mud and slush unless in middle of Winter. I ride a 2019 Giant Trance +1 Pro, mostly on MTB trails. To date I have done 7440 km ( 4650 miles) and am on my second...

MTB Fatality in the Lake District.

Well #lazy, at 75 years of age, I have had a pretty full on life. Firstly played rugby from 5 - 34 years of age, golf from 30-72, and road and mountain biking from 65 until the present. Also fitted in happy wife, three children, 5 grandchildren and one great grandchild over 49 of those years...

MTB Fatality in the Lake District.

If James uncle was aware of his condition, he would have been well aware his heart could conk out at any time. Sad, but you are quite right Rhfinnjr, most of us would prefer to go doing what we enjoy, even better if we are doing it with family or friends. I have advanced coronary artery disease...

Another Serious Lake District MTB Crash today - Think about the consequences to emergency services attending during covid!

That's a shame your group has reduced. Ours does at times too, mainly due to holidays and injuries as a result of 'offs' We are all retired and ride three days a week together, the ride always followed by a coffee and the odd delicious custard square or date scone!!!!. The main group stick to...

Another Serious Lake District MTB Crash today - Think about the consequences to emergency services attending during covid!

I agree 100%, but at 75 years of age the body doesn't bounce as well as it used to. I backed off a steep sharp left downhill banked switchback on Friday, and the rear slipped on pine needles. Resulted in a slow 'off' with e-mtb on top of me. No injury, but you are right, if I had kept my...

Kenevo Gen1 Specialized release overpriced bike which is likely just as F***ing reliable as the last one

My 2019 Giant Trance +1 Pro e-mtb, is now exactly two years old. 7300 kilometres ( 4562 miles), still the original factory tyre on the front. On my 3rd rear tyre. Front and rear shocks still original and working fine. No trouble with motor. Just had original wheel bearings replaced in the...

    You can ring my bell!

Just fitted an electric horn with 6 warning tones, short or long bursts. Also has LED lights with 6 settings - flashing blue/red lights etc. Charge battery with a wall socket. Try Ali Express. NZD$19.06, including GST and free delivery to New Zealand from China. Only drawback is delivery can...

    Bike stand for EMTB

Clamping by the dropper seat is fine Clamping by the dropper post is fine as long as you follow the rules. Extend the dropper post to its maximum. Wipe the dropper post so the surface is clean. Wipe the jaws of the clamp, making sure there are no foreign particles embedded in the clamp jaws.

    Maintenance stand for e-mountain bikes?

Very impressive, but I can't justify spending NZD$800 for a bike stand, neither do I have the room in the garage to bolt it to the floor. Being a a pensioner, I purchased a Torpedo 7 bike stand for around NZD$80 a few years ago. It copes with my Giant Trance e +1 pro's 21 kg (minus battery)...

Levo Gen 2 Tyre Pressures ?

Hi Steve, you seem a very knowledgeable chap and you can save me a lot of trial and error on my tyre pressures on my Giant Trance +1 pro. I have now done just under 7000 km on South Island (NZ) dusty/loose gravel hilly sheep tracks country. I am still on the original front tyre which is a...
