You sound really unlucky to have that many failures. I ride mine all year round also, in the North East, always wet and muddy and it gets washed with a hose after every ride. I would assume my failure was due to water ingress as it was intermittent in the end, but that’s just a guess.
My bike is now with the shop I bought it from for a replacement motor. The error is intermittent and will reset for an unknown amount of time, it could be fine for 30 miles, it could reappear instantly.
You can see what the cadence sensor is doing in the video below, sometimes it is was worse...
I’m taking it to the shop I bought it from to see what they can do.
Just to update, I’ve given it a clean, checked all electrical connections and turned it back on and now it’s fine. No error and working fine again 🤷🏼♂️
Hi all,
Got a 513 error on my 2020 Rail this morning. From what I’ve read it looks like new motor time, internal cadence sensor fault.
Annoyingly my bike is 5 days out of warranty. Has anyone has to pay to replace their Gen4 motor? If so what was the cost?
@Stihldog I’m 150lb riding weight running MT7’s with 220mm rotors from and rear and have no issues with them at all hot or cold. I changed from Saints with 203mm ice tech rotors and the difference was noticeable immediately.
Even if Trek won’t give you any discount the seat stay and chain stay are cheaper than you’d think. I have a spare seat stay for my 7 after I put a ding in mine more than a year ago. It was round £110 from memory.
