For some reason Commencal seems to remove a bike from their website once it completely sells out.

I did not use the YT dropper. When I got the bike I swapped the fox transfer and wolftooth lever and have been running that ever since. Happy with my choice as it hasn’t gave me a single issue and feels as good as any dropper I’ve used.

Privateer bikes did a $100 deposit for pre-order I believe. (On their new pedal bike released a few months ago).

I really hope that’s not the case for the US. Otherwise I would may have waited for a completely different style ebike that is supposed to be released around that same timeframe.

I’m scared of this as well. My friend who is knowledgeable about the bike industry said he wouldn’t be surprised if we didn’t see out bikes until March 2021.

That would be nice if more bikes had universal batteries. But unfortunately that is not the case. Even some direct to consumer brands (Like YT) have their own in house battery.

I would say on at least half the rides I do on my Decoy I am wanting/needing more battery. Usually spend most the rides in eco getting range anxiety and having to work “too hard” by ebike standards. Ran out a few times and had to pedal back without assistance. I’m usually good for 25 miles and...

Lol, My friend ran one of those Silent Shimano hubs for a while. He was randomly given it with the disclaimer, “You can run this, but it can and will fail at any given time”. SRAM sticky piston brake levers in their Guides was a major issue.

Are you asking if I think the Essential build with a fork damper upgrade is the best option? I think it’s a really good option, but I would also want to upgrade the shock as well. For a 160/170mm ebike, I want a little bit more adjustment on my shock than a dpx2 performance. Also I’m not even...

Commencal is now allowing pre-orders on their 2021 ebikes on the US website. Availability is saying Dec 2020 which is a little unfortunate. I may put down an order though for the Team edition. Anyone know what their cancellation policy is?

They do, but they won’t sell any until the Shimano issue is figured out. If Shimano recalls the motors, the bikes will just sit in their warehouse.

Not true. Bike manufactures already had it. They didn’t start back tracking until the customer started freaking out about the loud rattle. Commencal was locked and loaded to start shipping out bikes in a few weeks, now who knows how long it will take.

Can confirm this is accurate. My friend talked with Commencal this morning and they expressed concern that Shimano could do a total recall of the EP8 motors.

A friend talked with a US rep for Commencal and he said they aren’t taking orders because of a problem with the EP8 motors that may warrant a total recall. That’s not exactly confidence inspiring. But at the end of the day, I would like my ebike to not sound like a bucket of bolts going down...
